You've given me a "Reputation" - LONG- SORRY

He he he he – thought you guys would appreciate this. Seems like I’ve now got a “reputation in town”

Yesterday was a crappy day at work – Bank Manager for business got caught up so rather than hang on for him I asked him to drop in with the forms that need signing on his way home. Anyways!!!!!!!!!!! 6pm he turfs up in his way swish car with his way swish wife (I used to look like that before babies and my job working on building sites J )

He comes into the kitchen to pull out the paperwork – and I suddenly got a flash of what he was seeing. Me & DS – sparkly clean (been to swimming pool as kids get in free over the holidays) DS in clean jammies, sitting at the kitchen table waiting for a proper knife and fork, sit-down dinner to come out of the oven – looking dead cute, although I’m probably biased.

Me in a dress for a change (£1.50 + 0.99 p&p from Ebay) and a cute pair of eight year old sandals – obviously I’ve got my pinny on cos I don’t want to damage my “new” dress

Slow Cooker simmering away in the corner – Scotch broth made with leftover beef n gravy from roast on Sunday – smelling gorgeous. Breadmaker has finished about 20 minutes before so the bread was on a cutting board on the table – wafting that newly baked smell everywhere. Mmmmm.

The oven pings and one of the famous “MSE” fruit cobblers gets pulled from the oven and settled onto the kitchen bench to cool a little – oozing that fruit juice and sugary stuff from around the toasty edges. The kettle boils and I make a cup of tea for us all (wouldn’t have usually, but thought I’d best be polite to his wife) – and from the cake tin pull a few slices of the super scrummy Malt Loaf.

I sign the papers and he heads off (with a sneaky bit a Malt Loaf hidden in a napkin)

Today – everything approved by the Bank in double quick time to borrow the money I need to triple the business. “What swung your decision I asked?”
His response “anyone that can run a profitable business and still find time to juggle a family and put a proper dinner on the table every night is a great bet for me. All we eat these days are takeaways and microwave dinners”

Speechless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The reason I joined you guys here on OS is because I COULDN’T AFFORD TAKEAWAYS AND MICROWAVE DINNERS!!!!!!!!

My 72p dinner last night has just put the business in a position to be successful and profitable for DS and me. Convinced that he now thinks I am Superwoman – LOL - Nah!!!! I’m just your apprentice, so keep your hints and tips coming because your pearls of wisdom are worth more that than financial reward to me.

Thank you , thank you , thank you.

Off for some of that left over cobbler now

Cheers

Aww that's a lovely story - can I come and live at your house?

Bet his wife hates you though.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

    Well done you.
wonder if he gave his wife grief for not cooking lovely home made meals anymore?
Good luck with your business plans.

We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.

Ooooohhh - never thought of that. She probably thinks I am one of those Stepford Wives or something.

Good job I am in the Rotary rather than the WRI (although they have Far better food - LOL)

I loved your post so much I've nominated you for Post of the Month. If I didn't know what methodical madness goes on in here I wouldn't have believed it, but I've learned that it's totally possible to have a great, happy, healthy life without spending money you don't have. Keep up the good work, and you deserve every success with the business.
