Booking excursions in Vegas BEFORE traveling

Is it possible to book excursions in Las Vegas before traveling?
IE: Helicoptor flight over the Gran Canyon/Hoover dam (can these be combined?) Trip to Area 51 ect?
What others do you recommend?
Also what shows are worth going to see? and can we book tickets over here for these? I know a friend booked Tom Jones tickets before traveling a few years back.
Thanks,
Pete.

You certainly can and I found it was cheaper.
We did the Grand canyon (via hoover dam) and then a cowboy ranch. For 2 it cost $539.98, this was with Heli USA.

Hi Phil
Mrs Cat & I went on that trip and we loved it as well. Your link doesn't seem to be working, but this one should be OK. There are a few tours on offer, but the cowboy ranch for lunc was great !
Pete.g there are a couple of problems regarding Area 51
1) It doesn't exist (according to the government)
2) You'd be shot dead before you got close.
Other than that you'd be fine

The ET Highway and the Little A'Le'Inn, a mecca for UFO buffs and local watering hole, in Rachel, is definitely not worth bothering about. Even if you extend it into a drive through Death Valley - its a long extremely boring drive - with only the occasional "last !!!!! house for 50miles" type of sign to break the monotony.
Didn't get to see a UFO, unlike on the M6 at about 3am one time.0 -
when we took a Heli USA flight over hoover dam and into grand canyon they pointed out and flew by the famous "JANET" planes with the red stripe that take Area 51 employees to work. they ask you not to take photos as you might get in trouble
i think that's about as near as your going to get by air of course you could drive out to Rachael .
lets be honest Area 51 is as well known as the empire state building now. several movies + games not mention UFO programs etc. the road it,s on IS geniunly called the Extraterrestrial highway. The Las Vegas baseball team are called the are called the 51's with alien faces all over the logos ect. look

a secret place doest exist yeah right . IMO it where they test supernew prototypes etc that people mistake for UFOs . and they are quite happy for people to delude themselves into thinking that. Aliens i don,t think so hell the military have a hard enough time NOT shooting there mates let alone a UFO that can travel across space. lol
anyhow i cannot recommend a helicopter trip in the grand canyon highley enough. You have GOT to do it if you can simple as that. shop around but i think the prices are relatively similar if you book through your tour operator ( Virgin in our case) or you investigate doing it yourself before you go through the Internet or while you are there through the free magazines. it is very IMPORTANT to get a helicopter flight from Las Vegas airport though as you can get cheap one's that start at the canyon....but remember the canyon is a good 5 hours away by car. better to spend the money with a las Vegas departure . they will fly you back over te strip when you return as a bonus.
if you are thinking about seeing ANY shows my advice is wait till you get there unless you know they will be sold out when you arrive . ( Madonna was the ONLY one that was when we went). Goto tix 4 tonight and tickets2nite to check out what you can see for half price. also check out the free magazines for vouchers. check out the sites below.

we got half price tickets for
Mamma Mia at Mandalay bay
Rita Rudner at NY NY
Avenue Q at the Wynn
Dirk Arthur magic show at Tropicana
Ron Lucas puppet show at RIO
Amazing Johnathan at Sahara
made the BIG mistake of Booking Hairspray at the Luxor in advance because Virgin said they guaranteed great seats, only to see the tickets on sale for half price every time we went to Tix 4 tonight. when we got our tickets on the night they were really bad seating . 10 mins of shouting at the virgin rep and some begging phone calls from her to the show manager got us upgraded to best seats in the house !!!!...but i wish we had had them at half price.
tix 4 tonight they have 2 outlets one near the M&M musuem (MGM grand area) and one at front of Fashion show mall.( treasure island area):T
tickets2nite ate near the the first tix4nite somewhere between MGM grand and harley davidson place ( they are all dead easy to find walking along the strip)
one chain will have some tickets that other dosen,t so checking out the two close to each other is best bet if you are staying in that area. :A
you won,t get the following there
Celine Dion ( but do you really want to when she cancels all the time so i have heard . no wonder Ceasers have told her to pack her bags and replaced her with Cher when her contract expires)
Lance Burton
Most of the Cirque de Solqiue shows ( Though i saw 2 shows at reduced prices for mid week shows)#
Penn and Teller
but you also won,t pick them up cheaper before you go simply because they do not need to discount to get nearly sold out every night
hope this helps have a great time:beer:

I was being ironic when I said that it didn't exist.
Obviously irony is hard to carry on the internet.
Ah well, never mind.
MTC
p.s. you could always charter a flight and fly it towards Area 51 and see how much difficulty the USAF found in shooting you down.!!!!0 -
