I typed a detailed answer for this question on one of the other threads you've posted on asking this question (how many do you need?), but then saw how many threads you've posted this question on and then deleted your post.

    Is this a wind up?

Use Add/Remove programs (in the control panel). ONLY USE THE SYMANTEC/NORTON REMOVAL TOOL IF THIS DOESN'T WORK. (The post above should have explained this). Norton isn't a problem to remove unless you are using an older version.

Come and help me work through what the Symantec knowledgebase article tells me you need to do to remove Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition v9 client from a PC, after the Add/Remove method didn't work. Over two A4 pages of tiny type, which takes well over twenty-five minutes to work through. And I still can't get the v10.1 client to install, even after all that. That rates a mega-grrrrh in my book!

PS Fortunately 'just three' of nineteen PCs had problems with the upgrade...

The main point I wanted to make was the Norton removal tool should be used only if you have problems uninstalling. It shouldn't be a first port of call to remove Norton.

All the newer versions I've uninstalled recently have come off cleanly without the tool. Although as your post points out, it may not go well all the time.
