Just seen on their site they have a 'spring bond' fixed at 5% for, I think, two years. Only available to customers who joined before April 2006
Haven't looked into it too closely as doesn't apply to me - but seems like not a bad rate and it might do someone a favour !

It`s 5% BUT fixed to 31-8-20130 -
I did say I hadn't looked at it closely!
Still I think 5% is still not bad even for 3yrs although must admit, as I dont want to tie my cash up for that long I haven't followed the three year rates .....0 -
But is it only a max of £5000. Hardly worth the effort!Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

If they can offer this rate for taxable savings, why can't they do it for ISAs?
All banks and building societies are offering higher rates for taxable accounts, which is cancelling out any advantage of a cash ISA, especially when you take into account the hoops you have to jump through in order to set up an ISA.
Should the regulator be doing something about this?0 -
I was thinking about investing in this Call Save 2-Year Fixed Bond at 4% AER, but it apears to have been withdrawn. Although you can still access it via the link given below, it is not showing when you access their site directly. (http://www.coventrybuildingsociety.co.uk/)
A 2 Year bond would be a good option during the current climate of uncertainty.
The details from MSE Savings Pages are given below
Coventry BS 4% AER. Phone. Min £1.
The next highest payer is Coventry BS's CallSave fixed bond paying 4% AER until the end of April 2012 on balances over £1. As the name suggests this is a telephone based account.
Coventry BS has the usual £50,000 per person FSCS protection see the Savings Safety guide for more.

I checked on the Coventry Building Society website today and noticed the the callsave members bond (18) ...only available to members who've been with them continuously since April 2006. This is being withdrawn today, but still time to apply as long as they have funds within 7 days.
Seems like a good deal: 5% gross P.A. fixed until 31/08/2013. invest up to £5000.

5% gross interest fixed until 31/08/2015.
Good rate if you think interest rates are going to stay low for some time...how long is a piece of string?
