in Energy
Would it be possible for a sticky thread to be created allowing users to share energy money saving advice .. how to save on gas, electricity (and possibly water) .. hints and tips etc. Prcies are rising and they probably will continue to do so for quite a few years.
Maybe there already is one .. if so make it sticky.

Yes agree Ivan, would be a good base.
Economy 7 tips would be useful, can't seem to get beyond 25% usage off peak.
Also the best economiser I have are 3 solar water cookers, using free rainwater and the sun. The whole setup cost less than a fiver and returns 12 litres hot water a day.
A list of moneysaving energy ideas would be appreciated by all. Mind you the board is not that old, could probably scroll thru.0 -
I'm not sure what you mean Ivan, maybe it's too late at night, but the whole board is about ways to save money on utilities, also there is Martin's thread re price rises.Torgwen..........

With energy prices on a seemingly relentless spiral upwards and the need to reduce our energy footprints (through international agreements) I was just thinking about the possibility of a couple of stickies on Tips to reduce electricity usage and Tips to reduce gas usage might prove fruitful.
A very simple example that comes to mind is to always use pots with lids (can save significant energy) ... or to boil an egg, once you have brought the water up to temperature you can actually turn the heat off (many people let it simmer for 7-8 minutes) - probably amounts to a 50% saving in energy usage.

Saving the Planet without costing the Earth, by Donnachadh McCarthy, gives 500 tips to a Greener Lifestyle. Nothing that aint been on here tho.
