I got a text from Barclaycard - Scam?? or not??

A couple of weeks ago I applied for a new credit card with "Sky Card". I recieved a phone call to say I'd been accepted and what were my balance transfers?
Then I got a letter saying could I send off my proof of identity? (3 items)

I had trouble finding things that were in my married name so I sent off...
A mobile phone bill
an electricity bill
a bank statement

When I posted it off I noticed that the envelope needed to be addressed to "Barclaycard" so I guessed that they manage the Sky Card.

So I'm wondering if the following is related...

This morning I received a text message saying
"Please call Barclaycard account management on 08703665389 immediately. Registered address; Barclaycard 1234, Pavillion Drive, NN4 7SG."

It came from text number 00

I called (from the work phone) and first someone answered saying "barclaycard", and then put me on hold before I could say much else. Then someone came on the line asking for my account number. TBH, I didn't know it anyway, but it got me wondering wheather or not this was a real text or a scam from somewhere else. So I hung up.

I then rang Barclaycard customer services... they looked into my REAL barclaycard account and checked there was no problem there. they also confirmed that skycard is owned by them and gave me that number.

I called the skycard number and they were equally as confused. They said it could be to verify that the mobile bill was mine, but she wasn't sure. She also said that if it was them, the text should've come from "skycard" and not "barclaycard".

(this still making sense?)

So she checked with her supervisor... then looked up my account on the computer, but it's not yet registering... and both her and the supervisor said to ignore the text.

However... the mobile is my husbands, but in my name. we've never given the number out to ANYONE but family. I don't know how else someone would get my number to text it. Skycard have the mobile bill and would be the only ones who have seen this number.

What do you think??? Should I go home and find the letter from skycard and ring them back with my account number? Or does it sound all too dodgy? :confused:

I don't want to mess up my skycard application as I need their 0% for a bit while I clear the balance transfers.

    We have a skycard and did receive a phone call from them to confirm our details. I have never received a text from them.
    One word of warning with sky - their statement does a breakdown of dates that payment has to be made. When doing internet transfers they require you to make it 3 days earlier than you would if paying by cheque.
    We made a mistake once and paid on the wrong date, even though that date was on the statement. We were then told that we would lose our 0% feature.
    However, when I phoned and explained the reason and my mistake, they were happy to re-instate it.
