The Dogs Trust offers third party liability for up to £1m if your dog causes damage to people, other pets or property. All your dogs are automatically covered. The only thing is that you live in UK (but your dog is covered abroad) and it does not apply to dogs classed as dangerous under the dangerous dogs act.
You get this by coming a member of Dogs Trust which costs £20 a year (£10 if your over 60) or £500 for life. You also get free access to Vetphone which puts you in touch by phone with a Vet or Vet nurse 24 hours a day every day of the year inculding Christmas Day. You also get other benefits inculding a promoise to take care of your dog if you die.
Could be useful for those who don't have pet insurance but have been concerned over recent government annoucement to force every dog owner to get third party insurance.

No point - the government have scrapped plans.
Aslong as your a responsible owner that has trained your dog correctly then it shouldnt cause any 3rd party trouble for you!!0 -

I am a member of the dogs trust and I can assure you that they do excellent work and there is a damn good point in being a member and contributing to their cause!
Additionally you can be sued if your dog causes and accident.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

there are never any guarantees of that - we live in an increasingly litigious society, and even well trained dogs can escape, get lost, cause accidents, injure another dog if attacked etc - there have even been cases of burglars trying to pursue compensation claims after being bitten whilst intruding on someone else's premises..!! at £10/£20 a year this is a pretty good deal.0 -
But doesnt most house insurance cover third party liability for pets anyway?
Its also covered in my pet insurance - I spose most pet insurance also have it.0 -

If your paying £12 a mnth (say) for pet insurance inc 3rd party you could cut the cost by deleting the 2rd party bit, get ins for £5 a month and join Dogs Trust for approx £1.67 a month = £7/mnth not 12
Save money and help the shelter I say.0
