Hi
I have both ecoballs and soapnuts having promised my husband that this was the way forward to save money etc but I find that I only use them a couple of times and then give up and go back to my usual powder, the problems I find is that when using either of them after washing grease marks seem to appear on some of the clothes, I think that perhaps something like milk or whatever has been spilt on the clothes and I have not noticed until I come to iron them or wear them later, also if not drying the clothes outside the clothes get that horrible damp smell (which doesn't seem to happen with the powder) is there something I am doing wrong???
If using ecoballs they go in on their own with the clothes and I try to use as short a wash as possible.
The soapnuts - I put about 6 halves in a net and dont put anything else in - perhaps sometimes vinegar if nappies.
I have heard some people say about putting a scoop of oxyaction in too or something, is that correct? Also what do you use to stop the clothes smelling damp?
Many thanks
Jo

Don't know the answers to all your questions, maybe vinegar in the rinse would help - I have used the balls before, else tumble dry straightaway after a wash...but I would like to share the miracle I witnessed when I used a soapnut solution sprayed on my carpet...it removed computer printer ink and some VERY old tea stainsMember no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

We have ecoballs, they dont get out bad stains. I use a 40 degree 30 minute wash and vinegar in the rinse. Most stuff is washed using them but OH does the Karate suits and his white police shirts with powder.
If you have a lot of greasy stuff to wash,is the machine getting a build up?0 -
Sarahsaver,
where can I get some soapnut solution. I have a rug I want to sell but needs some attention first and your experience has inspired me
thanks, mocolo0 -
You get a handful of soapnuts and boil them in a pan of water, see the soapnut website - inasoaputshell.co.uk i think. I got the instructions with a free sample.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Try using the soapnuts with a bit of washing soda in the powder compartment, I find this does the trick, however, for bad stains I use a splash of ace belach too. Soapnuts get stuff clean but aren't a stain remover.

Hi. I have never tried soapnuts, but used to use ecoballs (still have them, in fact) but haven't used them for ages. They are ok, but don't really get stains out. I would probably use them again if, and only if, I had no money to buy washing powder & wasn't washing DS's work clothes!
Having said that, I did use them for quite a while and they did help at a time when money was very tight. I still had to do a washing powder wash every so often, when things began to look too greyish.0 -
