Inspired by renovation.girl, I thought this would be a good motivation thread for us all.

My areas are:
WORK - Hate my job, especially the boss. I want to finish my degree with OU and take on a different career path. Need another job first to be able to afford this. I am looking with no luck, need to keep motivated.
DEBT - Will be paying debt off on 1st March, need to make sure I never ever take credit again unless necessary. I need to be better with money.
HEALTH - Put on a lot of weight after a difficult year, need to start eating better and exercising again.
HOUSE - I have my house up for sale, want to move to a bigger house in a different location(nearer to other half work)
FAMILY/FRIENDS- Make more time for my family & See about making new friends as most of mine are rubbish, want my partner to propose as we have been together for a while, but want him to do it off his own back.

Would be good if people could post there areas of improvements & make suggestions on others...:p
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Health - recently diagnosed with diabetes so I need to lose weight, eat more healthily and take more exercise
Social & love life- almost non-existent
"Culture" - I used to go to the theatre/cinema/museums/exhibitions, and really need the motivation to start again
Clothes - I'm stuck in a rut with the same old style in different colours. Need to do some serious shopping

A good thread, I hadn't really thought it, just been going along in a very narrow life!

Does anyone have any plans on how they are going to improve these things?

  • Great idea for a thread, i dont need to worry about debt because that will be gone by October, i caqn see ythe light at the end of the tunnel.

HEALTH - i've put so much weight on in the last 6 months, my work uniform is starting to get tight. I need to get to the gym or make myself do a DVD at home, also i need to get back to slimming world cos i know its good for me, not sure when this is gonna happen, probably when DS starts full time school in September.

CLOTHES - i have no style! my clothes are boring, maybe when i lose weight i'll feel better about myself and buy nicer clothes that flatter me?

LOVE LIFE - ive not said 'i love you' to a bloke for 10 years now, ive had a couple of boyfriends but never longer than about 4 months, i need to stop being so independant and thinking that i cant let anyone in. Also this goes back to the losing weight opne, i know i feel good about myself when i lose weight plus some one might want me to be their girlfriend!

KIDS - We need to be more active, i have DS3 and DD5 and weekends are spent watching DVDs or the kids playing out the back street, we need to do more together, we live in the lake district, there are so many lovely places to walk up here.

    I think thats it!

  • DEBT: After LBM in Aug 09 this has been my main priority. I so far am achieving this by making over payments where possible, and also using the PAD method for my 'VERY' account which since joining the site as halved the balance (now currently £625) once settled I will look through other debts and start 'PADDING' on the most needed. Also checking into this site more as everytime I have some time off I slip back into but this always keeps me in check. Also no holiday booked this year and generally trying to live the motto of 'do you need it or want it'. Meals out and takeaways still need reducing though as these happen far too much :o

GARDEN: Started working on the garden late last summer but had to abandon it due to finances and weather, now looks like a bomb site so want to get this sorted this summer so I can have my very first BBQ! (bday is june and every year I say i will have a bbq but always end up having a buffet as garden is a mess!)

WEIGHT: Started a diet today (AGAIN) Gained nearly 4 stone over the past few years and desperatley need to get it budged! Going to cut out tit bits, no chocolate in the house but a fridge full of fruit, also going to add exercise to this, cant afford a gym and dont have a Wii (had to sell to make money for xmas :( ) so its going to be walking the dog, home dvds, and when the weather is better bike riding!

WEDDING: Me and OH have been engaged 3 years, and a big wedding wedding booked and planned which also lead to the explosion of Light Bulb, had to cancel a couple of months before wedding date  Hope to one day set a new date however need to get rid of the debt first and SAVE!!

SAVINGS: Last September I opened my very first savings account EVER! which I am very proud of :) Want to keep this going and as the debts go down slowly increase the monthly payment into the savings.

CAREER: After plodding along in the health and social care field, I finally started Uni in October to widen my opportunities want to keep this up, not fall behind on any work and work my damn hardest :)

Thats your lot, god I do go on lol xxxx

  • What a great thread catmiaow, and I love your signature, I am sick of being surrounded by ‘vegetarians’ who think nothing of tucking into fish. Or chicken in some cases.

    Some areas I want to work on;

LIFE- I want to get out of the routine of going home and putting on the computer and/or tv and just vegging out there all night. I am on the computer for 8 hours at work in the daytime so it makes no sense to do the same when I get home. Or to just sit around watching rubbish telly progs either. I want to do more “stuff”. I have recently finished reading the book that has been mentioned many times on this site about how a woman managed to live on a pound a day, and I have been quite inspired by some of the stuff she has got up to, so have been online and have seen what is going on in the region in museums, galleries etc. and am attending a free author event at the local library tonight which sounds interesting.

EAT BETTER- I try to eat healthy but a lot of the time I end up eating rubbish and then have trouble sleeping/getting up and have no energy. I need to try much harder in this area.

READING- I want to make more use of the local library and educate myself by reading books I wouldn’t normally read, as well as the usual trashy chick lit of course.
  • You lot really are quite inspirational! :) And a great thread btw....
HEALTH - Need to shift the weight. No If's or But's. It has to go.
LIFE - have a roof over my head, a wonderful partner.... no I think I'm quite content there.
DEBT- IVA started in January - 5 years to go. It will happen.
WORK- Could look for another job but I've just gotten to that comfy stage where you can argue with your line manager and he listens and laughs. Not the worst situation in the world.

    I'm ok apart from this.

    Sam :D
Smile and the world smiles with you....and if the world won't then I will :A

Health - While I'm not vaguely overweight (probably under if anything) I've started to eat bad things as a bit of a comfort so I defo want to kick that habbit this year and get back to a healthier way of eating

Debt - My goal is to owe less than 2k by the end of this year, meaning in theory I'll have to pay off over £5000 :O

Social - I'm luxcky inthe sense I haven't had to reduce my social activities drastically since me LBM but I think I've been on my own that long (over 2 years since I even went on a date :( ) that it's getting depressing and really needs sorting

Career - I love my job but we just got told that 1 (of 10) may be out of a job by this time next year unless we find additionmal funding. I'm therefore adding this to my post as I guess it needs addressing.

    Great thread btw :)
