Agree. Why pay when you can get it for free?

I use Kaspersky Suite which includes a firewall etc. Very good, very quick & configurable - checks for updates every 2 hours (Norton is once a week). Bit pricier but you get what you pay for - I use the rescue disk facility to sort out other PCs which have been let down by their own antivirus.

HA HA HA!!! You'r comparing Kaspersky with AVG?... Thats like comparing a Ferrari to a bicycle.... Kaspersky's muchhhhh better than AVG IMO, probabily in most people's opinions if they know anything about AVs.

I recomend Kaspersky, NOD32 or BitDefnder (my fav.3 in order of prefrence).
I'm using KasperskyInternetSecurity6 at the moment, its great! verry light on resources and a pukka AV, great reputation. Same with NOD32, but i'm not using it.

Kapersky is unofficially the most accurate scanner there is. So if the OP is looking to pay for an AV then this is the one.

If the OP is after a freebie then Avast is considered slightly better than AVG for detection rates.
