What Help Would You Give To New Posters

Hi All

As there seem to be loads of new people coming onto the board at the moment its given me an idea:

If you could offer a piece of general advice on being DFW/getting your affairs in order what would it be?

I'll kick off with:

Get rid of Sky and get a freeview box (saving £30+ a month)

More ideas?? :D

    great idea

Use Quidco when your using Uswtich - and do each one seperately ( ie phone, then close window, electric then close window etc) In fact use quidco wherever you can for swapping services.

Do bear in mind EVERY LITTLE HELPS. If you can save a pound a month on your phone bill- do it, use 10p off vouchers on your shopping and count your coppers!! :j
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Dont be so hard on yourself in terms of saying you feel stupid etc, the past is just that...the past. Pat yourself on the back for coming here and standing up to it. Its bound to be the hardest part but also very clever to do so.

    Another one from me:

Join Pigsback (see the freebies board) - its amazing how quickly you can convert points into vouchers for spending nothing.

First of all.....look ahead and decide where you want to be in xx years. Then admit to yourself & friends/family that things are going to change.

If you can't acknowledge you need to do some work to change things/improve things....then unfortunately no-one can help you.

    Then I would say:

Start a spending diary. Once you are aware of the weaknesses and high spending areas, you are armed with information that can help you turn things around.
Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
    Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

Take baby-steps and change one thing at a time.

Pennies make pounds - make them count!
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18
