I have noticed many people on this forum saying that they ignore private parking tickets and advise others to do the same and that such companies are either powerless or find it too much trouble to persue
Although the general word is not to worry about it and ignore its difficult not to worry
I think that what we need are some statistics to see what actually happens
I have created this poll and urge anyone who has ignored a private parking ticket to answer it so we can get an idea of the risks involved

If you see something I missd please point it out here

    Your poll is somewhat scaremongering.

About 0.1% of cases go to court and I only know of one GENUINE case where the defendant lost.

You've more chance of winning the lottery than having to pay the scamsters.

Also, what's that talk about "bailiffs" . Do you actually mean "debt collectors", who are a completely different animal.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Well whatever you want to call them I think you know what I mean.
    So what's the difference?

  • Debt collectors are unofficial, can say to you "I want my money" you say **** off and there's nothing they can do.
Bailiffs are court appointed and will clamp your car etc until you pay up.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

I never thought of it like that. It's meant as fact finding. If the facts are as you say they are then no one should be scared of them

The facts are indeed as he says. :D

Debt Collectors just use different headed notepaper than the original firm who allege any debt - they can't actually do anything different to ensure payment, they may make more of an effort to try (phone calls & letters) but that's it.

Real Court Bailiffs - now that's a hugely different matter!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I think that we are becoming sidetracked here
This post wasn't meant to be about bailiffs but to find out how many of you who have received a ticket and ignored it, was or wasnt persued till the end and how many followed similar advice like that which I received from the CAB and Consumer Direct which was to pay it under protest and then appeal (Advice I did not take)

I wish I hadn't mentioned bailiffs now as their involvement upon reflection would be rather extreme

Please everyone from now on IGNORE the question about bailiffs
