Hey folks
I took my lovely mum with me to London for a quick break and thanks to MSE, internet rail fares, my railcard, some savvy shopping around and other groovy money off/2-for-1 offers & the like we enjoyed:
1st class rail travel from Somerset - London & back
all day travelcards zones 1-6
nice comfy travelodge, central, 1 night
pizza lunch & drinks
Chinese dinner
Sushi lunch
Cabinet War rooms & Churchill Museum
v posh afternoon tea, all the works, 5* central London
movie, Leicester Square
picnic bag from Boots for trip home.
Plus associated coffee & tea stops on the way
total cost = £82 per person :money:

Hiya
We did a similar sort of thing in January-in the snow!- £12.00 each way-each on train from N Wales to Euston-booked early to get this deal.
- 3 nights at £19 per night at Covent Garden Travelodge
- Extra tea/coffee/milk given to us by nice cleaner for our room (which was clean & quiet & WARM)
- £10 each loaded onto the Oyster cards we had from last year.
- 2 4 1 voucher from Rail site to go up Tower Bridge-really interesting & good views in the snow-great photo points
- Tesco Deals to pay for 3 evening meals-Pizza Express and Cafe Rouge
- BrekKie we didn't take in the hotel , but in a little cafe round the corner £5 for full english with tea & coffee-we were set up for the day then, and just needed a couple of coffee stops.
- Theatre tickets which we'd got cheap before going.
- On the Wednesday we went to cinema 241 Orange Wednesday, I haven't got an Orange phone, but my daughter text me the code, which they accepted it!
- We walked for miles, in the snow which was fab! Had to buy a woolly hat though.
- As you did, we got a Boots Meal Deal for the journey home on train.
I didn't cost it, but we had a great relaxing time for very little money!
It can be done. :beer:Hey folks
