  • Sounds like a positive move and getting to buy your son his first pair of trainers/shoes/boots... very cool :D

I hope the splints help him.
  • Sounds like everything is moving well. Sorry, but I don't know anything about Cerebral Palsy, so won't even try to comment on that!!

I take it you have all the usual bits and bobs - blue badge, DLA claim, etc.

Hiya thanks Oscar we get dla for him but not the mobility side as he is not 3 till march. He getss middle rate for personal care.
As for a blue badge we don't drive so I don't think qualify.
We have 5 boys and 4 are special needs asd and adhd as well as the youngest who's got cp, we have 2 more severe so claim for them but 2 we don't claim for as no need to.

    Thanks again for your post
    Helen x

You don't have to drive to qualify. It can be used in any car that your son travels in.

  • Hi,
My daughter has had splints for the last 2 years, and is getting re-cast for new ones today.
they will plater the feet and lower legs on both feet once they have got the correct posistion, then carefully cut the plaster off once dried, to use as the mold for the splints.

My daughters splints go up to just below her knee at the back, and have 3 padded velcro straps on the front of each one to hold it in place.

They have really helped straighten my DD feet, and the feeling you get when you can finally buy that first pair of shoes is amazing!

The physio suggested to me that I start by buying trainers, as these will accomodate the splints alot easier, and you will end up with shoes 2/3 sizes bigger!

    Hope this helps. x
