I am thinking of changing to the above from Npower, I might be just being thick, but is there a minimum sign up time, read the terms and conditions but cannot see a minimum time.

Would be grateful if someone could clarify this for me.

Many thanks

May I ask how long it took for your switch to happen. I am in the process of switching to Equigas and first applied to them about a month ago. Have received a couple of postcards assuring me that it is in hand, but seems to be taking a while. Also, did the changeover go smoothly?

Took about six weeks. Should receive something from Southern Electric (depending on your area). All went very smooth and easy to check on-line once I got a start date. You should get another postcard asking for your meter settings very soon and switch over will be not long away.

Thanks for that information. Did you have any problems with you previous supplier? I have been reading on here that BG get up to all sorts of tricks when customers try to leave them - even telling them that they have to pay rental for the gas meter!!

BG are scum. I signed uo to click energy electric (I know got enticed by the low prices). Then they also signed me up to gas without my permission. Cancelled twice (email and phone) within the 7 day cooling off period but they then lied and said that I did not. Equipower then tried to prevent them from switching me but to no avail.
Dont worry because the day they took over my supply I signed back with equipower. BG are ba*tards and me or my family or friends will never ever go with BG again.

Im not going to bother with ofgem etc, but British Gas know that you are scum.

Got a call from Powergen asking why I had decided to leave. When I told them it was Ebico they said "oh..ok". Told me about all the good points of Ebico and certainly didn't try to make me feel I had made a bad choice. I was quite happy with Powergen but if it wasn't for MSE I would never have heard of Ebico.

Hi Dobydog.....moved to Ebico recently, took about 5 weeks, by the dealings so far will be with them for quite a while.
Powergen rang to retain my custom, told me EBICO had gone bust, which clearly they have not.
As for your former gas company, don't get me started.
It seems anything with British in it, avoid. Telecom, Rail, Gas.
  • It took me 6 weeks as well. Bills are much lower, great customer service, I strongly recommend them.

What a cheek telling you they had gone bust!! It's unbelievable the tactics these companies use to try and stop people from switching - surely some of it must bordering on illegal.
