under pinned - it shows my favourite sites -when i righ click on a site it only shows open / unpin - is there a away to rename the sites?
under "frequent" it list my recent sites is there away to stop the list growing?
i use openoffice and have a blank document saved to my desktop for use is there away i can pin the document when i right click on the icon on my desktop pin to the taskbar is not showing
on the bottom right handside there is a flag when i click on it a pop up says "1 message - set up backup - i backed up today to factory settings but that pop up keeps saying backup
sorry for so many questions

AFIK you need to rename it in the bookmarks then repin it

Do you mean in the start menu as recent documents

You need to the pin swrite program from start menu/programs
on the bottom right handside there is a flag when i click on it a pop up says "1 message - set up backup - i backed up today to factory settings but that pop up keeps saying backup
This is the control panel/backup restore option set up a backup if you open the action CENTRE pane(flag), select maintenance dont check/message for backup
sorry for so many questions

I found these yesterday for you for Windows 7 Tips , if they help all well and good, I would not personally turn User Access Control (UAC) off (its mentioned quite a lot in of some of the tips)

Some very nice links by debitcard there. Also, with regards to UAC, Windows 7 UAC Settings has a Slider to change your 'comfort-level' with the notifications.

You need to the pin swrite program from start menu/programs

You can limit the size of the 'Frequent' list -
Right click on the Start button and select 'Properties'.
In the pop-up window that appears select the 'Start Menu' tab.
Click on the 'Customize...' button.
At the bottom of the "Customize Start Menu" dialog box there are two settings for "Start menu size".
Change "Number of recent items to display in Jump Lists" to your preferred size (I like 5).
Note this will set the Frequent list size for each and all programs on the taskbar but it won't limit the number of items you can 'Pin' to a particular program.
As far as back up is concerned, in your other thread I mentioned you had two options for doing back up - the Windows one and the HP/Compaq Recovery Manager one. You presumably chose the Compaq one so Windows thinks you haven't yet done a back up.

can someone please explain for me
i thought windows 7 was touch screen but when i double click on desktop icons nothing happens am i supposed to set something within programes
i've tried doing the shake thing but nothings happens do i have to use a mouse as i'm using the keyboard on this laptop
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-0828.aspx
how does a mouse work on a laptop do i have to conect an external mouse
ta if anyone can help0 -
Windows 7 only works with touch screens if you actually have a touch screen - that laptop does not!
You can use the laptop touchpad as a mouse or plug in an external mouse if you find that easier (most people I know generally use an external mouse most of the time).0
