is this too for expensive gas radiators

Options
hi, i live in a housing association formally council house and the gas fire has broken,,when i asked for it to be meant they said that they are planning to get rid of the gas fires sometime so will not be fixing it,,we have gas radiators in all the rooms but i am now paying £5 a day for 2 radiators in the living room plus i think my daughter has hers on in the bedroom,,so that is £5 a day for 3 gas radiators..does that seem expensive ?,,,i need to keep the room warm to help keep my pain away but even with my dla i cannot afford to keep the living room warm..i wrap a blanket around me but all this autumn and winter i have been in very bad pain because of the cold...are gas radiators that expensive to use because when i just used the gas fire in the living room it was half the price to run and it got the room really warm,,much warmer than the radiators...

  • I believe that current regulations state that you have to have an annual "gas safety check". When was the last time someone came round to see you to make sure everything was safe?

If you haven't had a safety check for more than 12 months, phone the housing association and ask them to send someone as soon as they can. They will be a registered gas appliance expert and able to check the radiators are running correctly.

If you have had a gas safety check, try advising the housing association that you would like them to send someone round to make sure the broken fire is safe (really, they should be switching off the supply to the fire anyway). They'll send the same expert round and you can ask him to look at the radiators too!!
