How do I de-clutter? I've just found 3 very large underbed storage bags, full of clothes. I really had forgotten I had them!
Last time i saw them was when I decorated my bedroom 3yrs ago.
The sizes range from 10 to 16 (hence them hiding away). I am at the moment, due to a recently diagnosed thyroid problem, size 18, making me the largest I've ever been.
One has a dress I wore to an interview in 1990!!
There are so many lovely clothes I just don't know how to sort them out. Realisticly most will never fit me again, but because I have so many memories of all of the bits (probably why they were there in the first place) I can't be ruthless.
To top that I've decided to go through all my current drawers/cupboards and wardrobes.
Loads of the clothes have never been worn and some still have price tags on. Such a shame and a waste.
So how do I do it? And what to do with what I want to get rid of?
LL

Well the getting rid part maybe give to charity??
Or perhaps ebay the items so as to make some extra cash to get a new wardrobe or treat yourself to something you want??I live in my own little world, but it's ok as everyone knows me here0 -
Right I'm going to be harsh, be prepared
.
What would have happened if you had just thrown the bags away without looking inside them? Would you have remembered what was in them?
If the answer is no then send them to the charity shop, you dont need possesions to remember things, alternatively just keep afew really important bits. The current stuff I would either ebay, carboot or freecycle/charity shop depending on the quality.
Harsh but fair I hope
PS. Had a drink it make me more outspoken:beer:Sorting my life out one day at a time0 -
I had a clear out last week, and was ruthless - the things that I found were things that I had forgotten that we had - 7 bin liners full of things in the conservatory!! Now I am on a roll and am going though the house like a dose of salts!0

Do you have any relatives or friends who would appreciate them? My aunt often gives me lovely clothes that she no longer wears. It makes it easier to part with loved items if you know they are going to a loving home!Context is all.

Yep that's what my hubby said. Didn't remember you had 'em ..............so don't need 'em!
He's just gone through one of his wardrobes (must be catching) to show me how its done. He's chucked out almost everything!!!!!!
In under an hour as well. Mine is all over the living room floor.
The ones in the bags are really nice and good quality, now I live in 'fat shapeless clothes', don't think even the charity shop would accept that junk, plus they never put anything I take into them out?????
I've never done ebay. Would suits and clothes sell? Is it difficult?
Mostly I need to find a way to be tough and be rid of them.

Some of them are making me feel so sentimental that I'd probably want them back if I saw them wearing them................LOL

when i have a clear out my criteria for binning are these:
1 have i used the item in the last six months
2 do i plan on using it in the next 2 months
If the answer to both is no then bin it!
Also have a 'touch once policy' to keep tidy and organised. eg post comes through the door you read it, deal with it... whether that means actioning something like a reply, or just binning it or filing it.

Wow! Wish I could have that approach.
I haven't even seen them in 6mths and none of them will fit in 2mths
Getting moaned at now, as its all over the floor and I'm on here.

spare toys went to our local mums and tots
a car full was sold at the car boot makeing approx 120.00
i sold 23 items on ebay makeng another 159.00
i gave lots away on freecycle makeing a few people v happy
i took a huge black sack of clothing to the bins at tesco
everything left from bootsale was put in a box and again offered on freecycle went within minuites of being posted
and fineally i made my next door neighbour very happy when i took her a sack of clothing that was far too small for me.
