Anyone with Halifax Reward Account &/or Nationwide Credit Card

Applied for both on 6th Jan.

As for the Nationwide Credit Card - am told (by Nationwide) i should have documents to sign in 5 working days from the application date.

The girlfriend applied for the Credit Card on 11th Jan & received it (signature documents) today (13th Jan)

As you guessed ...... i'm yet to received anything.

As for the Halifax Reward Current account, when i log in online, i get the following message (& have done for some time now):
Thank you for your recent application for a Reward Current Account. We are currently carrying out further processing on your application. We are sorry to keep you waiting and in most cases will contact you within 48 hours to inform you that the application decision is ready to be confirmed online.
Thank you.
Please click 'Continue' to return to 'My Accounts'.

Any suggestions? Due to work, i can't easily get into either of these.

I hadn't called either actually. Been in touch with Nationwide via email who said if i didn't have the C/C app by 5 working days then email them back, so i did. Is 6days today & still not received it (usually takes them 48hours to email back).

As for Halifax, you have to phone about accounts. Don't seem to be able to email about them like you can with Nationwide. Haven't had the time to do this so may give them a go tomorrow. Is also 6 working days for this one.

Just wait for now? Post may have been delayed due to snow?? Btw, I have both Nationwide CC and several reward accounts. I think i had the message you have with one of my applications, it went through fine though.

Still waiting on the Nationwide one - they've still not replied though, which is longer than the 48hours they usually take.

as for the Halifax - i got documents through the post today. They want my signature & 2 forms of ID which i can understand.

what i don't like is sending my passport & driving licence through the post 1st class so Royal Fail can have their way with it (i have minimal faith in Royal Fail due to the "service" they've provided me in recent times).

I'm wondering - could i just go into the local branch & show them my ID there to get the process moving?

Yes, it's the best way. Take the account details in with you plus the required ID, and they'll photocopy this and send it off in their internal mail.

Oh my god what a mess today!!!!

1hr 30mins approx to get it all sorted.

Went into the local branch armed with ID. The lovely helpful woman photocopied everything & then ran some electronic check on me which was successful.

    No problems

Yet my account still said "pending" online. She couldn't get it to change & couldn't work out why it was pending an investigation when i had a letter saying it'd been accepted.

So on she gets to the phone & gets passed about god knows how many people & departments. About an hour later she gets someone who say they've had about 2 cases like this in the past 2 years

    Great

She eventually after some timew gets through to some special department who tries blaming her for chuffing up my bank account application - even though she clearly hadn't as i saw everything she did.

It sounded like the bloke was set to cut her off the phone as she was ordering him to stay on the line as she'd been waiting over an hour to get in touch with him. Told him her Bank Advisor was there verifying everything so he was to stay on the line.

EVENTUALLY she was able to get it sorted, so i'm up and running. No thanks to the people she was on the phone to.

She was extremely helpful & very apologetic. She even advised me to max out the number of accoutsn i cuold open & move £1k about the accounts to get as much money out of them as i could do. LoL. It was a "i'm not telling you this, but......" lol.

So for me, i'm happy now.

As for the girlfriend who's also applied for one of these accounts - just logged onto her account today & it says it's been declined.

Any idea why they may do this? Any checks they can run on her will show she can meet the paying in criteria. Her history is pretty clean, so has no debts.
