Long-lasting clothes

Is there a brand or type of clothing or shoes that are particularly hard-wearing or long-lasting? I don't like buying clothes and am past the age of caring about fashion. Does anyone have particularly well-loved items that has lasted them for years? I like second-hand cashmere jumpers and also jeans. My mother used to have a fisherman's smock that lasted her for a good 15 years.

Can't advise on a particular brand. Most stuff these days isn't really built to last but then again you can argue you get what you pay for ie cheap Primark = throwaway clothes.
You might like to post this on the Health, Beauty and Fashion board if you don't get much response on here? Lots of women over there with a good idea about clothes and such.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

like you I love cashmere, but can't really afford it.
I have a few Edinburgh Woolen Mill jumpers that if looked after will last. I think they cost less than 5 pounds as I bought them on ebay
And in my humble opinion, if fashion is not at the top of your list Clarks or Ks shoes have always been a winner for both comfort and durabilityEbay 13

I'll second the Edinburgh Woollen Mill - I have a woollen cardigan I bought in Edinburgh when I was 17 and more than 17 (nearly 19!!) years later, it is still going strong and SO warm these days!December GC: £3500

Marks and Spencer FootGlove shoes, I live in their trouser shoes all year round. I do not own a skirt
only one dress which comes out every other christmas if its lucky
I can't promise as long as the jumpers but I get a couple of years wear out of these.0 -
my Uggs have lasted me 2 years so far and I wear them pretty much every day except Summer, ok they are expensive but they have lasted, so to me they were well worth the money. I find Next have gone right downhill, the last few tops I've had all have little holes in where they rub against my jeans and belt

Clarks shoes don't last long at all, I've been wearing their flat ballet pumps one and worn down a pair in a year. I only wear them once/twice a week.0

I have a 20year old jumper that I bought in QS and people still ask me where I bought it from as it is a lovely purple colour. It washes and tumble dries like a dream.
My husband is still wearing 25 year old jumpers that were bought in Woolies for £3 each and they seem to be indestructible.
Marks and Spencer clothes with the St Michael label lasted and lasted (just look out for them in charity shops) but don't think that the modern clothes from there will last long.0 -
Most of our Marks and Spencers' stuff has been extremely good. My husband's T shirts have lasted for years. Their tights are better than anyone else's too. I agree with the comment about Clarks' shoes.0

shoe wise, if you can wear them, Crocs - they are like rubber clogs, although you can get other designs now, and millions of colours.
It isnt worth buying the cheap imitation versions, but proper crocs (around £25 - £30) are definitely worth it.
I am about to buy a third pair, each of my last ones, lasting over a year with wear left, just not much sole grip which I need in the kitchen. Just over a year may not sound alot, but bear in mind I wear them not only when working, but also in days off, and the first pair did 6 days a week of 12 hours a day waiting on tables so lots of walking! I then went into the kitchen and again 12 hour days 6 days a week also on my feet constantly and getting all sorts spilled on them! So I would say they are worth every penny! Also wipe clean ! Its all win!!!
Dont have a clue about clothes though sorry, apart from I get all underwear from M&S and it seems to last forever! OH Boxers are into year 10 and still look like new, as are my undies! I know TMI
