Viewing the forums on a laptop screen.

Hi.
This issue has been bugging me for a long time, but the thread link to below has prompted me to post this.
Posting using a laptop - techniques for seeing more USEFUL stuff!
As described in that thread, when viewing the forums on a (laptop) screen that in height terms is quite small (<= 800 pixels) the MSE masthead and other banners/boxes/trimmings above thread board threads take up a disproportionate portion of the viewable screen height.
(Dread to think what it looks like on a netbook )
Obviously there are ways for the user to combat this: e.g.
- Viewing the forums fullscreen (F11 on most browsers)
- Using content blocking/removal extensions for browsers like Firefox.
(Note: I have used the 2nd of those for a long time now)
But as you can appreciate, this is far from ideal, and depending on browser/environment/OS it may not even be possible.
So I was wondering if the MSE techie team could look into doing something?
Many forum elements are already collapsible by the user using a
button, so maybe something along those line can be done? Or a maybe a viewing preference in the UserCP?
Thanks in advance.
