This kind of lobbying is entirely to be expected, indeed the IA and Fred Woollard brought it up at the SGM.

The City wants a price reduction so it makes more money and the members make less.

The managment has been firmly told to resist pressure like this and they have committed to do so.So let's wait and see. We won't know the price in any case until the actual day arrives.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

Didn't Standard Life waste £100 6 years ago defending mutality, the size of the windfalls 6 years back would have been 4 or 5 times the pitence we are getting now.

Well the windfalls have now been cut in that the price that shares will initially be sold at has been dropped. See here

Question is - do they represent good value and should we buy more before the float (5% discount for policy holders and customers)?

In a sense this could work out better for policy holders - if we do buy extra shares at the lower price and they go up to what they would have gone up to ... or something like that:confused:

Thanks. I think their server is busy. Did you take a cache of this document? Any details you can pass on?

(Duff link?) You can get this prospectus from here:

    http://prospectus.standardlife.com/shareoffer/content/index.html

...and can apply for shares (either ordinary price or preferential price) here:

    http://www.serviceportal.co.uk/buyform.aspx

This asks for your name and address to help precomplete a printable pdf (note the pdf cannot be saved - neither can it be copy and pasted!)

Quick question. If you want to buy shares in the offer there seem to be fixed amounts you must ask for: £1000, £1500, £2000, £2500, £3000, £4000, £5000 (etc)

    I assume therefore that:

    - There is not option to buy a 'set' number of shares (presumably because it is more usual to invest a specific sum and the share price will therefore affect how much has been invested.)

    - The amounts allowed are rounded for the same practical reasons (eg you can't ask for '£4500' of shares)

    - This investment is subject to scaleback anyway (in the event the shares are oversubscribed)

    - You get a smaller cheque returned to you in the event of getting fewer shares allocated?
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

People looking for the SL prospectus - both the link that I provided above and the one from Milarky will take you to a page which asks for your country of residency. Select UK, hit go. You then need to go to the downloads area of the site, where you will find the prospectus and prospectus summary.

Also available is a form to apply for shares to purchase in the retail offer. Do not use this form if you are a SL customer or policyholder, as you (probably) qualify for the preferential offer. The preferential offer allows you to purchase shares at 5% discount to the evential offer price.

Milarky - as far as I can see the link to the form you provide is only for the retail offer and not for the preferential offer. Eligible policyholders and customers should shortly receive info on the preferential offer in the post, and should not use this form.

As you say, the form asks you to select an investment amount - this is as you cannot ask for a set number of shares (as you rightly suggest) because the final floatation price of the shares is not yet known and is dependent on take-up of the offer.

I very much doubt that scaleback will effect small investors, unless their is huge interest in the float, but theoretically that is possible, and a refund would therefore be due.

Oh yes, forgot to say - I don't have any idea whether these shares are good value or not, but there will probably be quite a bit of analysis along those lines in the weekend press, so I suggest people post relevant links here.

The last correspondence I received from SL was the statement of my share entitlement and the voting pack.

I haven't received anything else and now on their site there is a timeline stating that forms filled in selling shares needs to be in by 5 July.

Has anyone else received these forms or are they on the way. I seem to remember something about a date around 23 June, or did I dream this?

They won't have been sent out very long ago so don't panic.
