Citi Card Problems?

I have the Citi Gold (Aadvantage) and recently got a mailshot saying they had disassociated with Aadvantage and that a new gold card would be sent to me.

I received the new gold card (same card without the Aadvantage branding) and when I activated it I asked about additional card for the daughter (yea, yea - I know - i'm a walkover ok!)....

They said they no longer offer such a service and all additional cards will not be renewed upon expiry! I then asked why you couldn't apply for a new card and they said cards were not part of their future restructure!

I wonder what to make of that, moreso the refusal to accept an additional cardholder more than anything else! Also, see here: Shell Citi Card

Is it not time to ditch this lot and move somewhere else ?

They don't appear to be taking new CC customers and they seem to have hacked off a lot of existing ones !

Best to let the CC part of their business die the death it appears it will anyway ! :)

I'd love to mate but they were my first mainstream card and so feel a slight loyalty to them - even though I hate them! But I see what you mean - however I decided the alternative, keep my account just to annoy them! :D:D:D

  • Just had a quick look on the website as I was trying to log in to my savings - can't see that they're accepting new applications either.

Understand the feeling a bit of loyalty though - I'm holding on to my Barclaycard since they gave me one as a student and have since upgraded to Gold and more than trebled by limit since then but no reward from them

Any chance of getting your daughter an additional card on another account you hold?

Oh and how are you finding BOI as I've just got one of their cashback cards?

I was thinking that but to be honest i'll not bother, in a way I think it was a blessing in disguise - you know, one of those heart felt moments when the heart strings are being pulled and when they have gone you 'sober' up quite rapidly :rotfl::rotfl:

I have their standard gold card, it is ok - they pretty much leave you alone..... One down side is lack of online access (unless you bank with them) and the fact you have to speak to someone everytime you ring..... limits can be ok, although mine started at £3k and was reduced in 2 months to £1k. You cannot apply for an increase until 12 months either

  • D'oh - must read posts in more detail before replying!

They gave me £3K limit too - a bit more than I need TBH but it's nice to have - just in case. Better change DD to full if no online access then GULP - trusting a financial institution to get it right

:naughty: As you should know, no loyalty ! Because as they have proven with their shell cashback customers they won't show any ! :p

This was part of the big con most of us fell for, customer loyalty staying with the same company year on year even thou the deal was terrible but they made us think we where important :rotfl:

    Insurance companys as well ...

Eyes wide open, give me a good deal or I will move :T

debenhams is a good one to use, we use that now they got rid of the aa advantage gold, but this months statment still said aa, although I believe they are not facing out until end of dec. I wonder if we will still get point using the gold standard citi card until end dec
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
