new asus arrived - but aaaagh!

i love it! multi touch pad, loads of gizmos, and have spent this afternoon moving in - music on itunes and ms office installed, along with firefox

following reading the recommendations on here i have downloaded malwarebytes, updated it and am right this minute running a full scan its already found 9 objects infected

the only thing i've done recently is remove the factory installed norton using the downloaded removal tool! since then i have noticed that on startup i get a small black box pop up that then dissappears (looks like a dos prompt), could this be what mwb is finding?

we are 26 mins into the scan and no more found yet. when its finished do i trust mwb to sort em out?

  • Perhaps MWB is only picking up cookies at the mo, Just let it run through have it fix everything, then re-run a quick scan to ensure everything's gone, Alan

Malwarebytes doesn't pick up Cookies. :) Yes, Remove Selected at the end and reboot when prompted.

oooo! avira has found some stuff that cant be removed all i can do is copy to quarantine or ignore c:/ users\******\safe music\ _avt
    " " safe music\ _lit
    " " " "
and the above is repeated for safe video and safe doc ( the ****** is my name btw)

i suggest searching some recent virus help threads and look for alienrik's instructions

    you cant really go wrong

obviously skip the MWB scan but do do a hijack this scan and post the log up
    Back by no demand whatsoever.
