GE Money - Dorothy Perkins - Acc Cover

Hi,

I am really looking for advise as I'm not even sure if I can reclaim this or not.

Up until last year my mum had a dorothy perkins card, until I did a 0%balance transfer onto a credit card. I had a look at one of her statements and noticed she was paying approx £11 per month for Account Cover (150p per £100 Balance). Can she reclaim this?

She doesnt have all her statements but thinks she opened the account about 7 or 8 years ago . She doesnt have her credt agreement either but thinks she just signed the form in the shop where the boxes were checked. I would imagine she would have just signed what she was asked to as she unfortunately wouldnt be that clued in!!

Is it possible to get a copy of the credit agreement as well as the statements?

Or is it not even worth pursuing?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    Hello and welcome.;)

I can't see why not, if your mum was mis sold this for any reason, she should give it a go.

Your mum could try to get a copy of the agreement, hopefully they will send this, you write to them and enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment and tell them you look forward to receiving this by 12 days.
    Post by recorded delivery.

I was going to say, if your mum just has the account number that would have been okay, but if she does not have this, when requesting for any paperwork, especially if the account is no longer active, then to write down as many details as possible, to include any old addresses, if your mum lived elsewhere when she first taken this out, her date of birth and also any different surnames if different then.

However, another way for the paperwork is to request for a Subject Access Request (SAR), they have 40 days to comply and send everything they still hold on her account.
There is a cost of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this, and again post by recorded delivery, hopefully some useful info that includes the account number will come back within the SAR.
    Letter template here:

Again also give as many details as you can - in order for them to track down your mum's details.

If they cannot supply the above they will send back your payments with an explanation of why they cannot supply these to you.

Then for more on reclaiming PPI, check this link below, with letter templates, a check list of mis selling reasons and useful info with the guidelines of reclaiming.

Good luck with this and if you require any help, please just yell and please keep us posted, cheers.

If your Mum is married and husband is working then the husband is covered in her place. If no-one was working (mum/husband) they will ask for tax details for the relevant years.
This is what they have done with me, my husband was working so the cover extended to him instead of me.
    I hope that makes sense.
