Hi, My Macbook is now three months old and I am trying to put some pictures onto a disc.
Using the "burn to disc" and Toast Titanium 8 both leave the preparing window frozen on the screen. I have to force quit and then I cannot eject the disc unless I restart.
Is this my Mac jinx striking again?

have you tried just burning within Finder, rather than using Toast for something as simple as burning a data disc.
I only use toast when I need to burn iso's etc.

Yes, same result.0

Type of disc used? Have you tried another one?
Go into applications - utilities and run disc utility - what info does that tell you about your disc?
Does a message come up that you've put a blank disc in?0 -
Thanks all, have now updated Toast and it now works. Still cannot burn using disc utility though. Items are pale grey and cannot be selected.0

Whilst you're in Disk Utility, repair your permissions, just in case. If nothing improves after that, with a 3 month old machine, I'd take it to the Apple Store if it's handy.0

Have you tried Linux?0

Just to say that all is now fine, you have to put in a blank disc, open in finder and then burn! Why doesn't the manual tell you this? Anyway have now done several discs using updated Toast.0
