Buyer wants refund after selling item to sister...

Sold an item last week for 4.99 plus 2 quid postage. The seller wasnt happy with the item as it "wasnt quite the right colour".

They messaged me today asking for a full refund.

So I said they can have a full refund if they return the item.

They repled with "Well ive sold it to my sister for £2.00 less..."

But they atill want me to fully refund them...

£4.99 less the £2 is £2.99 - so shall I refund them the 2.99 or 1.49?

You want to refund them AND let them keep the money they sold it to their sister for AND you dont get the item back??

Tell him to get on his bike.
  • If they want a refund you've told them to return it to you. Simple!

No item..no refund..they're taking the proverbial!!
  • If they don't return it, I would say neither! If they put in a claim via paypal, they will have to return it to you with proof of postage in any case, so are just trying it on.
  • they wont return it as they have sold it to their sister for 2.99, but still want a refund...

Just play dumb then, email again and say that you are happy to refund on safe return just ignore the fact that they are insisting they have sold it on. Then ignore all future email, yes you risk a neg but you risk one with a dodgy buyer like that anyway.

Then it's their tough luck! No refund unles they return the item are ebay rules.
  • Just spoke to someone from Live Chat and they said to get the buyer to pay for the item again, then I refund them. That way, they get a full refund.
  • So they pay you twice, then you refund one payment??

Why would you do that? that makes no sense at all! as they have already paid so you get them to pay and refund that back to them so they still haven't been refunded! as you have only refunded the second payment.

Just tell them to return for a refund. If they don't move on and let them worry about it. Why would you want to refund them and let them keep the item?!
