starting up an online retail business

I wish to start up an online retail business selling clothes, shoes and accessories. I wish to sell through ebay and will also have my own website. The problem is I am finding it difficult to find wholesalers. I want to sell gothic/ emo/ metal type fashions and as I am starting small can not really afford to shell out £100's on stock that I do not know if it will sell or not. Can anyone point me in the right direction of wholesalers with low minimum order rules?

Im sure business link could offer you some advice if you are in England. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0

Hi,
Firstly I would like to wish you the best of luck with your venture. I used to sell on Ebay and had a website myself. Ebay is great Market place but can be very competitive! Have you trawled your way through google looking for goth / emo clothing yet? It is unlikley that anyone curently in the business will want to give out such details such as this but you never know!0 -

I have previously sold goth/ emo clothing when having a clear out and have often made a good amount from it and the items have always sold so there is a market on there. I have googled and it came up with a couple of sites, one had all the stuff out of stock and another did not have any pricing so I emailed the company for more information.
I am based in England and will have a look a business link borders_dude0 -
Although, this may sound harsh, im going to say it anyways.
If you arnt capable of finding wholesales to get your stock from without support are you really cut out to run a business?
Something worth thinking about.
Sorry if you find this comment a tad on the harsh side. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -

I have never done anything like this before and am at the very beginning of planning it I don't see the harm in asking for a point in the right direction. I have found wholesalers just alot of them want a min order totalling to £100 or more I want to start small so just need a little advice.0 -

Cool, atleast your asking for a nudge.
Wasnt trying to be nasty likes, just testing your mettle so to speak. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -

Its ok
didn't take it as nasty. I know its difficult setting up even an ebay business. Self assessment looks a bit scary but I am sure once I get into the swing of things it should be ok. 0 -
There is a huge emo/goth wholesaler in cheetham hill in manchester from memory the minimum spend was £100 ex VAT, but this is purely to keep jo public out and in most cases as long as your not wanting a credit account, minium purchases, dont really apply.
My tip would be to visit a few shops that stock the ranges that you would like to sell, Note the label names, and google them when you get home, and you will find the wholsalers, if your lucky the shop owner will be lax, and you can work out which wholesaler they use, by the lables on the clothes.0 -
Do you have a local car boot near you? I find these sort of items can often be picked up there for little more than £1 each and, although they are not new this doesn't seem to deter ebay buyers.0

Cheers for the tips. I have managed to find a few wholesalers online that do not require a min order but are a little pricey for smaller orders. Ah well we all have to begin some where. I am also waiting to here back on min wholesale order policies from some labels that some favourite shops of mine stock.0
