OH usually sits on the floor to play his XBox but he's getting on a bit now and ends up with a sore back. I'm looking to get him one of these chairs for Xmas but I cant decide which one.
Ignoring the price difference, is the dearer one likely to be much better or is it only dearer because it's a newer model and has a swivel base?
I have no idea which to go for. OH is more the shape of the bloke in the first picture rather than the second so a wee skinny seat just wont hack it.
I've got both of these reserved in Argos till tomorrow but dont know which to get. Any thoughts please?

A friend of mine has the chair in the first picture and doesn't really like it. I think he had a problem with the cables being too short and also the sound quality was pretty poor - I have heard that myself, and it isn't great.
Plus, the first chair is still a lot like sitting on the floor and if your husband is having any sort of back pain from constantly getting up and down, maybe the other chair would be more appropriate as it is higher from the ground? But really, that depends on the degree of his sore back.0 -

My hubby has one like the first only its material and not leather. He finds it really comfy and just the right height. The one on the swivel bit would have him too high for our TV i think.
The sound on both will be similar and frankly not great. My hubby doesnt even use the sound features on his, preferring to use the 5.1 system.
I would go for a chair like the first personally but without the sound gadget bit and save yourself some cash.0 -
I got a big debenhams bean bag for game playing as i too like to be on the floor, its very confortable and also doesn't make your living room look geeky.

My hubby had the first pitcured one and i would say go for the second one as they are too low to the floor, i wish i had bought a higher up one.

I tried one like the first pic in PC world and felt like I was gonna fall back any second. Not comfortable at all.
Pic 2 looks like it's good, but I dunno. I've got back problems myself so am very picky about chairs. My sofa is just fine for my gaming needs.0 -
Bum! I went down the cheapskate route and bought the first one. The second one was more than double the price and I couldn't justify it, just for a seat to shoot people in. IYSWIM.
I'm not worried about the height as our tv is on a low unit so it will be ok from that aspect.
Oh well.....it's the thought that counts.
