Tesco Car Insurance

I'm not sure what all the qualifying details are (perhaps some kind person will be able to fill in the details...), but I found I was about to cut LOADS off my wife's car insurance
I was already a member of Tesco car insurance (I joined at the start of the year). I had over 5 years No claims bonus.
My wife needed to renew her insurance policy a few months ago, so I thought I would get a quote from Tesco (she lets me deal with all things like that). I mentioned that I was already insured with Tesco, and gave my details as well as hers.
The discount was MASSIVE! I think we saved about 200 pounds :-)
Instead of three years NCB (which is what she had accumulated), they quoted her as if she had 5 years!!!
If she has an accident, her NCD would drop back to 3 years. I think the same thing happens if I was to lose mine - she would drop back.
Now, I don't know if any of the following facts are relevant, as I am not sure what the full criteria is to qualify, but I will mention it for completeness:
My wife is 25 (I'm 31). Her car engine size is 1.1 litres, and she has an estimated mileage of about 5000 miles per annum. She is a named driver on my car insurance, and I am a named driver on hers.
Both of our insurance policies was set up on the phone - we never used the internet for this.
Hope this is of help - I apologise if this isn't new information here - I'm a newbie to this site, and this is my first tip that I have that I think will be of use to you all. Hope I find more for you all

just don't get any points. I got a quote off Tesco but they only marked me down as having 3 points. Then i asked them to see how much for 3rd party fire and theft. While she was working this out she noticed she'd only put 3 points down, after adding the other 3 the quote went up £700 - thats from fully comp to third party.0

Doesn't hurt to check, pingu. They all go through cycles where they have lower rates to attract new business. Very competitive out there.I have five stars! This doesn't mean that I know anything about any of the things I post. I could be a raving lunatic, or a brilliant genius, or just some guy on the internet. In fact, I could be all three at the same time.
If anything I say makes sense, then do it. If not, don't. Don't blame me or my stars if you do something stupid because I suggested it. I'm responsible for my own stupidity only. You are responsible for yours.
Why, I don't even have five stars anymore! Aren't you glad you aren't responsible for my stupidity?0 -

I've just renewed with tesco as the premium went down by a tenner?!
No probs with them - my car is off the road at the moment as someone tried to steal it. They swiftly organised for it to be picked up and the work organised, but didn't offer me a courtesy car, even though I'd paid extra for it. I've had to request one and they still haven't got back to me.No links in signatures by site rules - Forum Team 20 -
