This thread is specifically to discuss feedback for the

BestPriceforGold Gold Company
(
Link)

Postal gold companies, where you pop your old jewellery in an envelope & they melt it down and send you a cheque, have boomed in the past couple of months. We’re researching a guide to selling old gold, and need help from folks who’ve used these companies.

If you've used this company, please can you tell us the following...
  • When did you use it
  • What did you send it
  • How much did it promise you
  • How much did it deliver
  • How efficient was the service
  • If it didn't deliver the full amount, what was its reason
  • Anything else other people should know

Important note for Representatives of Gold Companies

We will be monitoring the threads, and if we believe any company has got its own representatives to deliberately post positive feedback (or negative on its competitors) it will be deleted, and we will count that as negatively towards any company's reliability and trustworthyness.

  • I sold my gold jewellery which I no longer used together with odd earrings and was really impressed by just how good their service was. I filled my details in online and the next day I received a pre-paid bag to send them my unwanted jewellery which I returned to them that day. I received an e-mail 2 days later to say that they had been trying to contact me but I had given an incorrect contact number. That was yesterday. I replied to their e-mail after 11pm last night and received a phone call at 10am this morning with my offer of £846 which I promptly accepted. The payment was transferred to my bank within 2 hours even though it was a Saturday. I would definately recommend this company as when I used the on-line calculator for other companies like Ramsdens they were only offering half of this offer. I was thoroughly impressed by their service and they explain the full breakdown of your offer to you in regards to the weight of the gold and also any deductions for the likes of jewellery which has stones in it which have to be removed or catches on gold chains which have metal springs which aren't made of gold which are removed and not taken into consideration with the weight of the gold. On the whole no hesitation whatsoever to recommend this company.:j

This is good BUT there is a serious problem with posting your gold. If it gets lost The Post Office will want receipts to pay you compensation...No proof of purchase, no compensation This is very risky!!!

You don't need to post this on every thread, in the discussion thread is best.
This is an occupational risk with ALL these Send youre gold firms.

Sent my gold off, then rang Bestpriceforgold, he said he was out of the office and would send my cheque the following day.

That was almost a week ago and still no cheque.

I am on hols so my daughter is checking my mail.

    No sign of it!!

    Oh! dear!
  • I have sent my gold to this guy, the phoneline says its busy and to date after calling nearly 100 times has NEVER been picked up.
After someone called me back they said the money would be with me either later that day or the next ..... you guessed it, 1 week later and still nothing, not even a text/email or answer to any of my messages left.
well thats £300 down the toilet.
This company is either a massive scam or have the worst customer service known to man.

  • BestpriceforGold has asked us to post on this thread on its behalf. MSE doesn't endorse anything a company says on the Forum.

My name is Philip and I bought Best price for Gold on July 21st 2011. As I am a “one man band” I rely do rely on customer good will referrals to their family and friends so I naturally run an honest and professional service for my customers and I was horrified to come across some negative comments regarding customer service on MSE. As the perceived misconduct was undertaken prior to my involvement with the business I would just like to state that I run a bona fide establishment with my customers at the heart of my business and my reputation paramount.

Please would any former customer who feels aggrieved at the previous owners’ misdemeanours feel free to contact me via enquiries@bestpriceforgold.co.uk and I will hopefully be able to recompense for any inconvenience caused.

    Many thanks,

    Philip Shock
