Help with securing childcare for going back to work

Hi I'm a lone parent and am going back to work as soon as I can, my job is ready and waiting for me, the only thing is childcare.
I've not been on IS for 26 weeks so does this mean I'm not entitled to help securing the chilcare space?
If not, is there any other way I can get this help, the deposit is £130, I am supposed to pay 1 months fees in advance but I can hopefully sort this by paying weekly in advance (my eldest son used to go to the same nursery and they allowed me to do this)

Once you start work you will be getting your WTC and help with childcare costs0

Tax credits will not pay any childcare costs until the child has started nursery.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Are you a lone parent? All I can suggest is that you go and see you lone parent adviser, dont they have a fund to give people money for things that will help them to return to work?0

Hi there
My LA has a scheme called "working for families" they are in place to assist with these sorts of issues. I would check whether your LA/council have something like this in place

Don't know if this is the same situation as yours, but I have to pay my childminder a retainer until I need the place in April. Phoned tax credits and they are giving me help with the costs.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

I would be interested to know about this too. I was on cont based JSA and was told there was a discretionery fund for things such as this but when push came to shove no one knew anything about it. I was made redundant in April and took my daughter out of nursery as couldnt afford to keep paying for her place as I had no income.
I am now no longer getting JSA and just signing for credits as my husband works full time.
Daughters nursery was a subsidised nursery for local authority but it has shut down and I never had to pay a deposit.
How am I meant to afford a months upfront nursery fees or deposit , my jobseekers agreement says I have to start work within 24 hours yet I cant afford to pay the deposit on a nursery if I did find a job tomorrow anyway, ludicrous.0 -

SAM - are you in a surestart area?
I know my local surestart has emergency nursery places so you could send him there for a week or so until you have some wages maybe?Don't know if this is the same situation as yours, but I have to pay my childminder a retainer until I need the place in April. Plus I wont get any wages until the end of december as I'm on a bank contract and the pay is monthly in arrears.
I also cant get the extra WTC until I start working ant thats only about £60 a week which would take me ages to save cos i will have to us that to pay rent! lol:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -

I'll be back with a link, it covers you for 2yrs NI (this is why any couple with 2+ children should both claim CB)
