Hi all.
I'm meeting up with a friend next week. We are thinking of going to Leeds. Anyone have any ideas of places to visit? We'll be arriving by train so accessibility by public transport is a must. Oh and it's a daytime excursion.
TIA.:)

Royal Armouries
Leeds City Art Gallery
Numerous shops, bars, restaurants. My advice is worth exactly what you're paying for it!

Royal Armouries is around 10 minutes walk from the railway station http://www.royalarmouries.org.uk/home
Like movies? The Leeds Film Festival starts this week: http://www.leedsfilm.com/
The Leeds christmas lights get switched on on Thursday the 12th, and it's usually a good evening out: http://www.leeds.gov.uk/Leisure_and_culture/Arts_and_entertainment/Leeds_Lights_Switch_On.aspx
Quiet beer? IMO this is the best daytime boozer in the city centre: http://www.york-brewery.co.uk/Mr_fowleys.html
Modern Art? Try the Henry Moore Institute. Its right next to the town hall: http://www.henry-moore-fdn.co.uk/matrix_engine/content.php?page_id=33
Like football? Leeds United are playing a home cup game against Grimsby on Tuesday evening. It's only £10 a seat: http://www.lufc.talent-sport.co.uk/PagesPublic/ProductBrowse/productHome.aspx
Out of town shopping? The White Rose Centre is around a 15 minute bus journey from the city centre, and their christmas lights are being switched on by roxanne Pallot from Emmerdale next Monday!: http://www.white-rose.co.uk/
The Leeds Corn Exchange is a magnificent building, and contains many fashion shops and cafes to explore: http://cornx.net/Profit=sanity

I suppose it depends what sort of things you like to do really.
Like others mentioned we have many museums and the like. A Harvey Nicks if you like to splurge.
The Chrisindelmarkt german market is due some time next week to I think, which takes place in Millenium square and will be there until just before Christmas.
Here's a link to the Leeds, Live it, Love it website, it can probably tell you alot more,

btw, the White Rose Centre is a fair way out of Leeds itself, although it is easy enough to get to and has numerous bus services.Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs
30lb lost of 30lb by June 2012 :j:j:j (80lb overall goal)0 -

Agreed!
Leeds CC has piles of independent shops, whereas the WRC is mainly high street shops....Debenhams/Next etc etc, under a roof.
I only really mentioned the WRC because Roxanne from Emmerdale is switching their lights on!Profit=sanity

We'll avoid the WRC then!
I have NO idea who Roxanne from Emmerdale is as I don't watch TV.:)
