Ebay/Paypal Charges

Wondering if you can all help me out as im a little bit confused!!
I have a personal paypal account, and have recently brought a few things off ebay using paypal but paying via my debit card.
My paypal account wont let me change my surname on the account and my bank account is in my new surname so i cant set up direct funding from my bank account.
When checking my bank statement online yesterday i noticed that for each transaction there is an extra charge been added of £1.25.
I checked my paypal account and there was no mention of this extra £1.25 anywhere on any of the transactions, i also dont remember there being any warning that i would be charged £1.25 when paying neither.
I contacted my bank (natwest) who said that it wasnt them charging me it was paypal so i sent paypal an email and asked them what the charges were for.
I got this reply
Dear PrincessPlaty,
Thank you for contacting PayPal with your concern.
When I carefully reviewed your details, I was not able to see any
transactions taken from your card amounting to £1.25 GBP.
It is possible this is a bank charge. Kindly contact your card issuer and
ask them why there is a charge of £1.25 GBP every time you make a payment
using your card.
It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing PayPal.
Sincerely,
Kamille

I have again contacted my bank this morning who have again told me that it is not them and if i need to i can go into a branch and they will write me a letter stating that they do not charge for debit card transactions unless it is abroad.
I have emailed paypal back stating what the bank have told me.
It appears on my bank statement as
27 Oct 2009 POS 8368 25OCT09 , PAYPAL , *123ACCESSOR , 35314369001 LU , CHARGE 1.25 - 8.24
have just used one as an example, however so far there are 8 charges showing and i have brought more since then and i know there is about another 7 to be added to that!!
Can anyone help? Not really sure where to go from here?

There seems to be a problem between Natwest and Paypal when you use a Natwest Debit card.
You should check out this post:

Thanks for that have just rang Natwest again and she is escalating my complaint and someone is going to call me back within 24-48 hours0

Just had a phone call back from Natwest who are still adamant that it is not them that have applied the charges and that it is paypal because they have processed them as foreign currency transactions despite the fact they were made in £GB to UK sellers.
They seem to think that because its a new visa debit card paypal dont understand how to process it and it is an error on their part
They are sending out copies of my statements so that i can send them on to paypal to prove to them that i have incurred these charges from paypal.
I still havent had any further contact from paypal despite emailing them after i spoke to the bank this morning.
Any ideas what the hell i do now?
Im getting more and more peeved with the whole situation for a few items that i brought on ebay totalling £22.10 it has so far cost me £42.10 and nobody seems to know where the hell the rest of my money has gone
Completly defeats the point in me buying off ebay when i could probably go into a shop and buy it all new for the price it has cost me so far
The bank also couldnt give me any other way around paying via paypal please help0 -
Have you read the thread referred to above? If you phone paypal back with some of the info supplied in that and explain that paypal are apparently already looking into this they might at elast be able to note your details and put some action into helping.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yes i read the thread above, and also explained it to natwest when they phoned it back and they adamantly telling me that that would have been with a credit card and not a debit card despite the fact i read the post to her word for word
I also told her that i had taken it up with paypal and read to her the email i had received from paypal.
However the whole time she was adamant it had come from paypal and not natwest.
Do you know of a contact telephone number for paypal at all?0 -

You need to log into your paypal account to get the number as you also need a web pin.
Be firm with them, tell them you are aware that they are already dealing with this for other people and you want your complaints logged and a formal response.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
