Changing To Powergen Gas - Taken 12 Weeks So Far!!
Options
I started changing my Gas & Electric over to Powergen from British Gas on 17/10/04. The Electric was done in a few weeks but I'm still waiting for my Gas!!
I've sent them a E-mail etc, they replied with a letter in the post saying they are talking to my current supplier still !
Anyone in the same situation or know why Gas takes so long ?

I'm having the same problem. They switched my electric over a month ago but the gas still hasn't happened.0

same here..switched electric in a month and been waiting for gas switch since October 28... they keep saying they are working and will call back but never do0

I switched gas and electricity in October, so far they have not transferred either, but have started charging me for both!! I am still with my old supplier, who are also still (correctly) charging me.
On the bright side I did get my voucher for a freeview box!!
I currently have a complaint with Energywatch regarding this mess, as Powergen seem unconcerned.0 -
I have had the same problem also. They are very complacent about it when you speak to them. They have not impressed me at all. How do I contact Energy watch? TIA0

I again called Powergen since it is now 3 months and gas has still not been shifted. They admitted that they had; mistakenly shifted my neighbour on the first attempt, then they got a new data base so that process stalled. Now they confirm that they will do it within 2 weeks as a special expedited case....no compensation though..0

Has anyone been changed over yet ??
I phoned about 15/1/05 and was told as mm66 was that it will be done as a special case within 2 weeks, But I'm still no further with it0 -
I just gave up completely, and told them not to bother with my transfer.
I am now staying with my old suppliers who are 100% more competent.
Got my Freeview box though!!0 -
Could you pls tell me how you signed to Powergen? If it was a doorstep sign up then the rep should have obtained the mpr (available on bill). If it was over the phone then Powergen should have asked for the mpr. However, if you changed via a website, then it is up to the customer to give the website and therefore the new supplier the mpr. If the gaining supplier does not have the mpr, it will significantly delay the transfer. The mpr will have to be obtained from the previous supplier, who, more often than not, give incorrect details in an attempt to keep their profits up and to belittle competitors. If it is due to a missing mpr, then there is not much point in contacting EW, but instead call Transco and obtain the mpr.Beware the green?0
