Old Style Sweet Jars

Anyone know where they can be found these days.
There's nothing to beat them for doing your own pickled onions.

Do you mean Kilner jars? These are currently for sale in my local co-op. Can't remember how much though but quite cheap.

Thanks but the Kilner jars aren't big enough. An old fasioned sweet jar would last us 'till the following year.
The jars from the chippy was my second choice, there are pickled onion and pickled egg ones that hold about half as much as a sweet jar.
Will have to look in poundland first though.

I think the ones in the co-op are fake kilner jars and they have big ones too.

Do Roses chocolates come in the big glass jars anymore? I have one from a few years ago and thats very much like an old fashioned sweet jar.

They seem to be in tins now, haven't seen them in jars for a while. If I did that would be a double reason for buying...:rotfl:

Did you know Jeremy Clarkson is descended from the original 'Kilner' manufacturer? ;) He was under the impression that Kilner jars were the hinge-topped ones ... in actual fact, the Kilner glass/bottle factories made over 3000 different bottles/jars. (Not everybody knows that ;) :rotfl: ) A "genuine" kilner jar is a rare item.

As for the sweetie jars, do you have any traditional 'corner shops' around? Our local corner shop closed down a few months ago and they still had shelves of sweetie jars, so I know they are still around.
