Hi nice board very interesting.
Any way my confusion. I decided to open a new credit card and transfer my balance from the old one £1500.
The first point is that theirs a charge of 2% for the BT.
Do you pay interest on the charge till the BT is paid off or is the BT £1530.
Second point is in the agreement it states “The total charge for credit is £153.02 Consisting of £153.02 interest.”
If its 0% interest for 12 months, where does £153.02 interest charge come from.

All the cards I have known do not charge interest on the 2% BT fee as it is seen as part of the BT
Would need to see the whole thing for your second point to see where it fits in.All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

The second point you mention, is something I think the Government require lenders to put in.
It is an example...if you borrow so much, at a certain interest rate, over a set length of time, it will cost a certain amount (just like for loans, you get tables indicating what the repayments are for 12, 24, 36 months etc, with and without PPI).
If you're on 0% for a year it's nothing to worry about, just make sure you shift the debt before the offer ends and you'll pay no interest.0 -
I thought it might be something like that, just didn’t won’t any more surprises.
Many Thanks0 -
It depends on the card, and how they apply their 'order of payments'. With MBNA (and their sub-brands), the BT fee is collected in addition to the first minimum payment. With Capital One, the 2% BT fee is paid off from your first 3% minimum payment (only 1% goes towards the balance). With Egg, the BT fee attracts interest.razorab1 wrote:The first point is that theirs a charge of 2% for the BT.

The 'total charge for credit' is how much interest you would pay if, following any introductory 0% period, you made one purchase of £1,500 and repaid it in 12 equal monthly payments. Where the provider knows your credit limit, they sometimes use this figure instead of the industry standard £1,500. As others have said, this is intended to allow you to compare each card on a 'like-for-like' basis.Second point is in the agreement it states “The total charge for credit is £153.02 Consisting of £153.02 interest.”

Hi
Don't know who your new card is with but I've just been looking into applying for a Lloyds Platinum card at 0%. It states clearly on their website that interest is charged on the BT fee.
Does anyone know if you can pay the fee upfront to avoid the interest?0 -
No, you can't. The payments are credited in the order the terms and conditions specified which won't be against the interest-bearing fee but against the 0% balance.0
