Aqua appeal sucessful

Options
I have received today a letter from Aqua confirming they have overturned their initial decision and will be issuing a credit card for me. A credit agreement followed for me to sign and return. It says the APR will be 35.9% but does not mention the credit limit.

Just wanted to thank the members of this forum, especially never-in-doubt, as without your advice I would have never appealed their original decision.

This is going to be my first credit card, thus I'm happy. I also appealed Capital One and will appeal Barclaycard. Hopefully they will say yes too.

Unfortunately a lot of mail is being delayed due to the postal strike. The Aqua letter was dated 09/09/09 and has just arrived today...

    Wehey - well done matey :T :T

1st step on the credit ladder! Right mate, next steps from here - do not get happy and apply willy-nilly as this will inevitably put you back to square one so best to use and pay off this card for at least 3 months before applying anywhere else.... in 3 months try Vanquis or Barclaycard Initial.....

    Again, well done matey :D

    Of course I don't mind.

I just used never-in-doubt template with a bit of a personal touch. Explained the CIFAS marker I have on my file, placed by Capital One, and how I was dealing this issue with them.

Also explained my current financial liabilities, both those shown on my credit file and those not shown and send them original bank statements both as proof oh how I conduct my accounts and as proof of address as well as a clear photocopy of my driving licence.

Also, as I am self employed, sent my most recent self asessment statement and a National Insurance contributions statement showing I have continously being in self employment since 1994.

Ended by saying that I would not mind a low initial credit limit, as that will be enough to show good payment history.

Hopefully they have not taken seriously the low credit limit suggestion... :D

I've got a pending appeal to Barclaycard for the initial card, so I believe the same letter will go to them.;)

This template here: BEEN DECLINED - Appeal Letter Template

Its what I used when I first appealed and I got each appeal overturned.... a couple (well several) other people have also used it and have negative decisions overturned. Its not so much copying what I done, but the format and bits of info they require that makes the template useful.

For instance, a lot of people write in asking for a decision to be overturned - and send a few payslips. This just isn't enough, you need to go into a lot more detail and therefore pointing out the key components of the scorecard will obviously help any decision therefore the appeal should always include the key components that assist the scorecard (i.e. your credit score from that lender) - fail this and no matter what, the decline will stand. :D

    That is right, mate :D

Do you know for how long can you appeal after the date they turned you down?

I was turned down by Barclaycard on 27th August and have my appeal letter ready, but can't send it yet as I am waiting for my original supporting documents be returned by Aqua.

You usually have 30 days mate, but that said, never send originals - always copy them. The lender will see they are genuine and if not, will ask for specific originals
