Two threads now running on how to get rid of Windows Live Messenger

There are currently two threads running on this very frustrating problem. The first started on 9/9/09 by "maggiesoup" which runs to 3 pages and has had 642 "views"; the second started by "gettingbetter" at 2.09a.m. today currently running to one page with just under 100 views.
Both maggiesoup and gettingbetter's last posts showed they still hadn't sorted it and they've dropped off the radar - to be fair gb may be out today. I've been battling on (in the thread started by m.soup) trying, and failing, to get rid of messenger. My last post late this morning hasn't attracted any replies to the question asked of me in an earlier post.
Judging by the number of views this subject has attracted there is obviously a problem with WLM even if only half of those views are experiencing the same thing; they may be just trying the various suggestions made so far by MSE'rs and/or waiting for the definitive "fix".
Do we just give up and let WLM win

I have already posted an easy way to remove messenger in post 10 of "maggiesoup" thread .Worked no problem for me but people seem to question the solution with no justification.0

I tried your suggestion but didn't work for me. Not able to highlight just one, they all came up "self-highlighted". As I indicated various fixes were tried and failed.
By starting this thread I just wanted to alert the techies on this board that 2 threads are running and currently no fix. Rather hoping maggiesoup's thread will continue and not this thread otherwise that'll make 3 threads. Perhaps gettingbetter should have done a search first before starting a 2nd thread on the subject but these things happen:)fitzroy0 -
Not sure if someone has mentioned this solution yet or not but doesn't ZapMessegner work?
