can anyone advise me on this
me and my partner reconciled on the 27th July and hence i stopped paying CSA to the government, i have just had a phone call from them today saying that i owe 155 pounds for the month of July up until the 27th, however i always paid my CSA monthly on the 1st of every month which i did so on the 1st July
when i put this to her she said that CSA payments are paid a month in ARREARS and not in advance, now i am not certain this is right but it surprises me if this is right, should i pay up and shut up or enquire further?

sorry to bring bad news
for once the csa are correct
all child support is paid in arrears.
you cannot just stop paying them either. your partner has to write them a letter stating that your back together and to close the case. and only when you get a letter of confirmation from the csa can you stop paying.
always keep letters from the csa as you never know when they may be back in touch, especially keep the confirmation of case closed.
a mate of mine had a call every month from csa demanding payment for children that were living with him. this went on for three years until he told me and i explained the same thing to him

when i was dealing with the csa i sent all letters recorded delivery because they were always telling me they never received the letters.. recorded delivery ment someone had them and i would argue this point to themThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,

Can anyone advice me about Childrens Tax Credit and CSA. I have one son living with me, and my other son lives with his mother. I pay CSA money for him, but I receive CTC for the one living with me. Am I entitled to stop paying CSA money as the Government says I dont earn enough thats why I receive CTC.
CSA says I have to declare what CTC I receive so they can put CSA money up.

BigBob,
I would advise you to carry on paying maintenance, but put in a claim to the CSA for maintenance from the other parent for the child that lives with you.
Are you receiving Child Benefit for the son that lives with you? If you aren't, you should put in a "duplicate claim". Unfortunately these can take up to 5 or 6 months to sort out.Torgwen.....................

Advice needed.
My older brother pays CSA for his son.
recently he has been paying out approx. £78 per week. £40 of this is back money from times that they have never taken payment. Also his name is not on the childs birth certificate, can the CSA take payment from him without a DNA test?.
He is on a weekly wage of approx £190. Do they have the right to take that amount when he has other commitments with his wage?.
Please help so we can clify this.0 -
CSA can take payment without DNA test, however from your post the full circumstances are not clear. Once an application is received from a parent with care a form gets sent to the NRP and this is when the maintenance runs from, did your brother receive this form?
He needs to check what address the MEF ( the form that should have been sent to him) went to ?
Does he believe that he is not the father, if he does not then he has to have good reason and advise tha agency accordingly, however for this to be considered it has to be more than ' the man down the pub doesn't think my son looks like me'!!
Also CSa only comes behind council tax ( i think ) in priority for deductions from earnings and it is irrelevant what the other outgoings/commitments are for CSA purposes.

are you not supposed to inform the csa if the nrp has moved back into the pwc household (even if you are not claiming i/s). is this one of the changes that by law you must tell them or can the "pwc" still be classed as a csa customer (if the "nrp" was paying direct payments)?0

CSA should be told of reconcilliation as there would be no role of a PWC or NRP if they were a couple .'. the case would be closed.
