Finally got through to student finance!!

At last I finally managed to get through to student finance after days of trying - I got through at 8.10 this morning. I wish I hadn't as I was told there would be a delay of between 8 -12 weeks in handling a new claim!
Perhaps there wouldn't be such delays if they didn't spend the time sending out forms that you can quite easily download from their website. When I said I was ok downloading a form, the lad I spoke to said that they would post some out as well. I dread to think what its like working there at the moment - it must be hell. They need to get some more staff in - I'm sure there'd be no problems recruiting them.

Student Finance really did make life unbareable in the endless months I had to deal with them, and I filled everything out as soon as it was available. It was a horrible thing to come back to from my holiday when they sent about three letters saying that I'd not applied for any loans or grants even though I had so I had to go through the whole process again. Total farce, even worse than EMA, and that's saying something. I'm surpised the media didn't pick up on it like they did with EMA. I appreciate they've probably had more people applying this year but some of the things they've done along the way have just been inexcusable.0

I've got to say that I'm mightily surprised that this "Student Finance England" farce has not made national news headlines big time ! I've been on to them all summer with similar responses to you gottago.
Fortunately we now have an assessment hooray, but it seems that the total loan + grant doesn't add up to the amount my daughter is supposed to be entitled to for London !!! I'll now have to literally spent hours trying to get any sort of sense out of them. It's crap, but why hasn't it got out into the media, thousands of people must be seriously tearing their hair out over this.0 -
We also are fed up and frustrated with the Student Finance England lot.
A whole load of problems from when we started to send evidence for our 2 children in April.
Our daughter was sorted in a few days via l.e.a. but son has just been given an emergency loan. Will he get his grant?
Why has daughter been assessed on a different year to son?
Why will no human answer the phone at sfe?
The website application method is a farce.
We too cannot believe the media have not gaught up with this lot yet.:mad:0
