Advice please reg Tax credits industrial injurys

Hi
This is all a bit complicated hopefully somebody can help and advise me as to what i should do

Iam so low at the thought off what will happen soon ( crying at the drop off a hat ) , i will try to break it all down so that members can understand my situation and advise me accordanly.
Desperatly need some advise so please feel free to openly give opinion its most welcome.
Ok....Iam a single mum , daughter going to uni soon so that will be me independant and classed as on my own.

Iam in reciept off incapacity benefit and reduced earnings allowance everything else iam recieving will stop on the 7th sept inc tax credits family allowance ( i never recieved housing benefit , income support etc.)
Total income will soon be £162.89pw
Neccasary outgoings inc rent , life insurance , council tax , electric etc is £121.26pw which leaves me with £41.63pw.
I will get a rent rebate off around £12pw

Iam going bankrupt ('LILA' in scotland soon ) as would find it imposible to pay debts incurred as a single mum over the past 10yrs which i have been told by the CAB that this will all go through ok so this really wont be a problem.

Iam an ex nurse with really bad back & joint problems due to working with geriatrics over 15yrs period hence the reduced earnings which is now renamed industrial injuries ( included in income above )
I have been considering trying to do permitted work and iam in touch with somebody at the job centre in regards to this

The problem with the permitted work ( or any work ) is obviously whether i can actually manage it and also iam considering the other option which would be to do (is it 16hrs ) and qualify for tax credits ?

Is there anybody on the forum who can advise me please as to which way to go
I have heard off a disability element for tax credits
I guess iam trying to weigh it all up i will have to give up my incapacity to actually work to get the tax credits ( if there is tax credits for me ) and iam scared to do this as i may worsen my condition or not even manage a job but the thought off living off £40 a wk for the rest off my life deppresses me too.
How much if any tax credits would i be entitled to if i were to take a job ?

I know if i done permitted work i can earn up to around £90 but would it really be worth it and would it be better to throw in the incapacity and do 16hrs a week with tax credits because really if it were permitted work i would probably have to do that amount off hours anyway to make £90 !!

Oh iam desperate for some advise iam just sighing at all off this

Thank you

  • There is a disability elemnt to working tax credits but you need to be in receipt of DLA at the higher rate.

Do you recieve an occupational pension from SPPA (used to be sopa) from your nursing days? Did you pursue a claim against your employer?

Were you a member of the pension scheme?

When did you stop working as a nurse?

Since i'm not conversant with the AXA policy i would be unable to comment.
If you had been in the NHS superannuation scheme it may have provided a lump sum and pension when you gave up working due to your health deteriorating.

    Sorry i can't help.
