D-I-Y Home Information Pack?

I've seen instructions on a council website for compiling your own HIP. It sounds easy. Has anyone done it? Are there any pitfalls to beware of?
The instructions are in a document called home_information_packs_diy.pdf on the website of Blaby Council.

Thanks for posting the link chickmug. I just found out there's also information about how to compile a HIPS on the directgov website. It's more uptodate than the blaby one. It can be found by searching on

I suspect that at £205 for the budget HIPs you'd be hard pushed to do a better or equal job.0

If the DIY HIP works out cheaper and still satisfies the requirements, that's all I need it to do. I don't need it to be any better than that.
I'm just a little anxious about making sure the pack does meet the requirements. But the instructions do seem very clear and easy to follow.0 -

Don't use Blaby which has errors, use Gov.
EG you can for title, you can NOT download Official Office Documents (reqd) online from the Land Reg unless you have an account with them. You can get a 'copy' online, but it is NOT an 'Official Office Doc.'
You can however order a paper 'Official Office Doc' from the Land Reg.0 -
Don't forget to get adequate insurance cover in case of any errors.0

Thanks, confused31. I've decided I'll give it a go. I've found a list of nearby DEAs, and the council website seems quite helpful with regard to the searches.0
