Hi All

I have had a quick look but cannot see any reference about having both a NatWest and RBS 5% Regular Saver?

Can anybody point me in the right direction of a post about this, or have any information on this?

Just had a chat with an online advisor at RBS and she has said YES I can have both.
So I have just initiated the opening of an savings account with RBS as to open a regular saver you need an existing current or savings account.

I will keep you all informed.

Dagobert, thank's for your reply. Where precisely does it say you cannot have both, or am I just not seeing it?

According to the site I looked at, if you saved the maximum Nat West regular saver i.e. £250 per month the interest you would get at the end of the year would be £81.20.

Yes Jakes'Gran that sounds fine, interest wise.

What I need is another Regular Saver as I'm running out of eligible accounts to open.
Some of my current Regular Savers are starting to mature and I need to open new accounts where I can use the money to fund them. I don't want to tie up my money for more than a year or two so several regular savers offering good rates of interest seem a good idea.

Instead of having NatWest + RBS at 5% with max £250, you could have the Halifax one at 5% with max £500.

    Hi

I have a Halifax 7% Regular Saver about to mature which will roll over into a 5% Regular Saver. What I want to do is save the £6,000 + Interest I will receive next week.

I started off by saying that in my entry on this account because that is what it said in the MSE News article. I then started to wonder whether this was a mistake when I saw other websites (e.g. moneyfacts) did not mention it. When the details appeared on the NatWest and RBS websites, I removed the line saying you could not have one account with each institution and posted this:
NatWest / RBS Regular Savings account information in post 4 updated as information about these accounts now appears on the NatWest / RBS websites; there is further information on when the 12 month term starts and it does not say anywhere that you cannot open an account at NatWest and another one at RBS

Steveteach, let me know whether you are successful in opening two accounts and I will post the information my regular savings thread.

I would also be interested to know whether you really have to open a savings or current account with NatWest or RBS to open the regular savings account. I have seen conflicting information about this. The NatWest and RBS website pages do not state this as a requirement.

    All the best,

    Yes they do ;)
    The things you should know

Customers must have an RBS/NatWest savings or current account in order to open a Regular Saver account and must continue to hold this during the 12 month term.
Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion :p
  • Hi All

I have just opened the NatWest 5% Regular Saver last week, having had a saving account with them with £10.00 in. I have just set the wheels in motion (on-line) to open a savings account with RBS and when that is open I will attempt to open the 5% Regular Saver. I will keep you informed.
