I think we should all understand that the 'other' phone service providers (except Virgin cable) are buying their line time useage from BT.

I am quite surprised that BT offered to 'match' anyone else as they are normally a bit short (big time) in advising people on ways they can cut their bills. In the end BT would never have ended the monopoly they once had if they'd not been forced to.
