Costco "tupperware" Type containers

Options
I discovered these containers in Costco, which are just like the plastic ones you get in some takeaways. They cost £5 plus VAT for 100 500ml lidded containers, which are freezer and micorwave safe, and which can be washed in the dishwasher (top shelf). I think they are brilliant, becuase they stack inside each other and take up hardly any space in the cupboard and they are see-through so you know what you are getting out of the freezer. I find that each one freezes a good sized single portion of curry and rice, spaghetti bolognaise, cottage pie, scouse etc, and two good sized portions of just curry sauce, or meat and gravy etc. The lids fit really tightly so there is no spillage either and you just release the lid a little bit to microwave so there is no splattering. I have been getting about 6 uses out of each container (after that they get a bit out of shape and the lid doesn't fit as well, but I still think they are great value.

You can join Costco as a Trade or Individual member - Trade members get sightly longer opening hours and other benefits.

It costs to join - about £25 per year but we have saved a lot more than that.

To be an individual member you have to fit a certain criteria in your employment - there is info on their website.

They do "personal membership" for certain occupations; mostly civil servants, teachers, police etc, as well as solicitors etc. There's a big long list in each store.

Back to the plastic containers; my local chinese & indian takeaways serve their food in them, so as long as we have a takeaway every few weeks I have a plentiful supply. They do need replacing every now & then.
