Why can't I get a card to transfer balance?

Hope you can help.

I recently tried to get a 0% interest card so I could transfer the balance of my existing card which I owe just under £9000 on.
This is so we can really work on paying it off as we are both really focused on getting out of debt. I tried Virgin but was refused. Even though I have a lot of debt we both earn good money and do not default or miss any payments and I think I have a good credit record. Can anyone suggest a card I could apply for to transfer the balance and also if I do this now within a few weeks of applying for the other one will it affect my credit rating? Thanx

There's a full list of them on the stoozing site. Think people are getting good results with Halifax at the moment (I did last time I used them). So long as you pick a card from a different issuer than the one you have you'll be able to transfer the balance.

2 searches in 12 months even close together won't make any significant difference. If you've not already, would be worth checking your credit report to see what the lenders see incase anything there you're not aware of.

EDIT: Assuming the private loans in your sig are with friends/family and not on you credit report then the £20,700 of current debt (OD £2000 CC £8900 Bank Loan £9800) might have something to do with it.

Here's a list you can use, but don't go down the list applying one after another as you'll be unlikely to get credit from anyone. I noticed you have lots of debts in your signature (total £43,000) so I am assuming you must earn over £60,000 ('we both earn good money'). Most likely you have been refused credit is simply because you owe too much. Sorry I cannot help further.
