Pyrex in Micro?

Options
Hello everyone, thought I would make the microwave syrup pudding for tea tonight but only have a Pyrex bowl suitable enough. Does anyone know if Pyrex is OK in the micro?

Thanks!
Doddsy

does it have any foil type patterns on it, or is it just a plain glass type?

Glass type are fine, and im sure the white ones are fine 2, only trouble would be if you have metallicky (i'm not sure if this is a real word!) patterns on it.

I always use pyrex in the microwave, but be careful when you take it out if the bowl has become hot (which it will, with syrup in), as if you put it down on a very cold surface (like into the sink) then it may crack.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Yes pyrex is fine in the microwave. I've been using it for years and just for good measure I checked the argos catalogue and their pyrex has the microwave suitable symbol.

Ta very much, it's an old 'white' one with flower pattern on it, but I am going to give it a go!

Can I just say I had the yummiest syrup sponge pudding. Cooked in just 4 minutes and the pyrex was fine. Thanks for the help.

Hi Hardpressed - I found the recipe in the recipe index but I don't know how to do the link for you! it was ordinary sponge mix, with 3 tblspns of syrup in the bottom of the bowl - really nice.

It's in the Old Style Recipe Collection, listed under Microwave Sponge Pudding in "Sweets"

You can find these via my signature any time you see it or...

..you can use the Indexed Collections link in the Blue Bar at the top of every page which looks something like this:-
