How do I remove...

Options
my daughter saw fit to draw in pen on our really awful lino-esque floor in the kitchen.

since we plan on moving out of this flat in a few months (touch wood!) i thought i'd better find a way to remove as nothing has worked so far, even bleach!

the floor is really flat and dull, like the really really old lino not the new stuff

it's one solid piece, not made to look like tiles and it's a real pain to keep clean

anyway i've tried putting hairspray on cuz that works on shirts but it didn't work. neat floor cleaner, neat bleach etc no affect!

any ideas are worth a shot, she covered a large area while i had the gall to go use the toilet, shame on me eh? :rotfl:

Trying to tidy and clean while the kids are still growing, is like trying to clear snow even though it's still snowing

Another you can try is vinegar & bicarb soda mixed into thick paste, spread over & left for a bit. Work into the floor with a rag and then wipe off.
What kind of pen did the wee darling use? Biro, felt tip, or worst of all one of those permanent marker pens?

It may sound daft but try some good old tooth paste, just rub it over the top with a clean cloth, it always removes the markers pen marks that my little ones seem to get put on our floor !

well i tried the acetone, toothpaste and baby wipes and no joy

well actually the acetone took a bit of the finish off when i used the wire wool scrubby :o i quickly switched to the scratchy green kind instead :p

fortunately the floor is so crap you really can't tell anyway :rotfl:

i've got the bicarb and vinegar sitting it *might* be working as i let some sit for just a minute (to decide if i wanted to use my last bit of bicarb on this) and it seemed to be lightening it so i made up the rest

course i foolishly forgot that i know that when you add vinegar to bicarb it foams like mad so it went over the top of the container and into my hangnail  don't be too overzealous with the vinegar is all i can say, oh and OUCH!

Methylated spirits is the traditional way with fabrics but not an everyday item in most cupboards! Otherwise have you got one of those "eraser" blocks, flash do one, but the cheaper own brand ones are as good. Certainly work on my paintwork! Best of luck.

    Hairspray?

It is reputed to remove biro marks from fabric ( I suspect it's the propellant that really does the removal). Can't say I've tried it myself but I have met people who swear by it!
