I am after a new desktop pc (just the desktop). I'm looking to spend up to £600. I know the specs required are personal preference, but i'm looking to get the best pc for my £££!!! (Gaming and personal movie back up is my thing!)

Any decent deals on at the mo, or any recommendations for any good to sites to look through?

Ta!

what games, as its usually the gpu that eats up your budget in mid range desktops so we dont want to over spend on that and neglect other specs
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

What about this one for £400 delivered.

    Integrated ATI Radeon HD3200 Graphics
DVD +/- RW Drive (read/write CD & DVD)

Buy a graphics card separate (definitely not from Dell)
and a decent 7 channel sound system.
If you have any money left, get youself an external 1Tbyte drive.

My advice is a little different, if I were you I would join a couple of forums, they all work on the same basis you ask them a question kind of 'I've got £600 to spend on a new system... can someone build me one?' and they usually do. So my advice try the following forums:

    http://forums.ebuyer.com/
    http://forum.novatech.co.uk/
    http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/
This is the OCUK Hardware Forum, which I'm not sure you'll be able to see it if you're not a member, but you never know. It has a few 'build me' threads you may like to check out.
    http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=8

It's worth pointing out that they only really use their own shop parts, especially overclockers who do NOT like the competition and will BAN you from their forums if you mention 'the competition'.

    HTH
It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

    I've seen these, any opinions/preference?
    Ultra Europa
Buy a custom build discount computer, overclocked gaming, core 2 quad for sales at arbico hardware shops
    Ultra Athena GT

and i will post on the other forums as suggested!

As I recently mentioned in a similar thread, go for quality over specification. It'll be just as fast and last longer.
I'd never buy a retail PC, but if I did I'd want to know the make/model of the hard drive, memory, motherboard and graphics card.
The speed of the memory (ram) would have to be equal to or exceed the processors front side bus speed.
The power supply would need to give me at least 100w to play with, should I ever buy upgrades.
I'd also want a good monitor with a fast response time and high contrast ratio.

Obviously you won't understand most of that, but it really is more important to go for quality over spec. I cringe when I see people walking out of the supermarket with a new PC.
AMD processors are really cheap (they also love to overheat), hence the full system spec is higher than the equivalent price Intel, but the Intel is however currently the better processor.
